It should be noted that Barkley is likely to break Dickerson’s record while getting **fewer carries** than Dickerson had in that 1984 season. So, regardless of a 16-game or 17-game season, Barkley has well earned it.

Likely so. Barkley currently has 2005 yards, on 345 carries (5.8 YPC). Dickerson had 2105 yards, on 379 carries (5.6 YPC).
Barkley would need to carry the ball at least 35 times next week, against the Giants, to surpass Dickerson’s carries in '84 – certainly possible (he had 31 rushes today, the most he’s had in a game this year), but not necessarily probable, especially if he manages to break the yardage record early in the game.

As a Green Bay fan, it’s been interesting to see just how rapidly he’s been able to demolish his legacy and goodwill back in Wisconsin. I think there’s still some respect for what he did for the team, especially the Super Bowl win, but he is really seriously disliked now.
When the Packers went through their ugly divorce with Brett Favre in 2008, there were many fans who were unhappy with the team’s decision to move on from Favre, and who remained Favre fans, even when he became a Viking. I know of very few Packer fans who were unhappy about the team getting rid of Rodgers last year, and I know of none now who have any regrets about moving on to Jordan Love.

That’s all they need to worry about right now. Your guy looks good; getting him is the hard part. The rest of the roster is weak but a couple of losing seasons while Maye improves should fix that right up.

QB-wise, though, I can’t think of any NFL team that’s enjoyed better long-term continuity at that position. Favre to Rodgers to Love - the Packers might have 40 consecutive years of good-to-great quarterbacking with no interruption in between. Every other team struggled with lousy quarterbacking in between their greats.

With the Vikings now 14-2, it is now to be seen if the Lions will win tomorrow night. If they do, then it will be the first time in NFL history that a team got 14 wins and failed to win its division.

Completely agreed. Speaking as a Packer fan who lives in the Chicago area, I regularly hear complaints from Bears fans about the Packers’ ability to do this, while the Bears continue to struggle to get consistent play at that position.

The Packers engineered a fourth-quarter comeback against the Vikings, but it never felt like it was actually that close.
Their five losses this season are all to the three teams that are ahead of them in the NFC: two each against Detroit and Minnesota, and one against Philadelphia. They’re a good team, but not a great team, this year, and I don’t seem them being able to beat any of those three teams in the playoffs.

With the Commanders’ overtime win over the Falcons tonight, there are only two playoff berths still up for grabs, one in each conference.
In the NFC, either Tampa Bay or Atlanta will win the NFC South, with the other staying home.
In the AFC, Denver, Miami, and Cincinnati are all still in the running for the final wild card slot.
