NFL 2025 Preseason Thread

A friend of mine, who is up in Wisconsin, and well tied-in to sports news, tells me that the Packers are giving up two first-round picks, and DT Kenny Clark.

Hopefully that’s the headline and there’s a handful of Day 2 picks thrown in too.

Based on this breaking-news article in the Green Bay Press-Gazette, no additional picks:

I’d heard that Jerry refused to deal with Micah’s agent and insisted on cutting him out of any negotiations, and was acting publicly like Micah was being strange and unprofessional by insisting that his agent be involved. Relying on a professional with expertise in contract negotiations, who is paid to do that work, just as the vast majority of players (rightfully) do.

Jerry was all, “I’m Jerry Fucking Jones and I get what I want and this player is going to do what I tell him to.” And then this shocking development.

It’s almost enough to make me feel bad for Dallas fans, that everything is being run by that ancient clown.

Almost.

I, for one, hope he continues in that position for many more years.

The Bears traded two 1sts, a 3rd and a 6th for Mack. I’d say that Kenny Clark is worth slightly more than a 3rd and a 6th making this ever so slightly more expensive than the Mack trade. Though the Mack trade was a pre-draft trade so the effects were accelerated by a year.

Khalil Mack in 2018, when the Bears traded for him, is a pretty good comp for Parsons: four years in the league, similar levels of play and accomplishment, similar position.

This made me laugh.

It’s not often that one player has the potential to elevate a defense, but Mack and Parsons are among those rare players.

I consider 2018 Mack a slightly better player than 2025 Parsons. But definitely the most comparable trade I can recall.

Explicitly against the collective bargaining agreement, BTW.

Any thought on Nike’s “Rivalries” uniforms? While I’m not super in love with the 49ers’ all blacks, they’re easily the best of the eight. I do really like the Saloon font numbers and the gold outline and drop shadow is what many Niners fans thought was missing on the first try at black jerseys.

Mostly meh, IMO. Most of them stray way too far from the teams’ actual colors and logos. The entire thing is, of course, just an excuse to sell more merchandise, because the NFL’s money machine must be eternally fed.

It’s not just Jerry. We Dallas fans are tormented by Luka Doncic being sent to the Lakers for almost nothing in return, and the Parsons trade is almost as bad as that.

I was hoping that, if the Cowboys absolutely had to deal Parsons, that they’d send him to Buffalo.

Clark at DT won’t be a highlight reel but the 'Boys in 2024 sucked at defense up front.

The Dallas Cowboys had a historically bad run defense in the 2024 seaso, ranking last or near-last in the league in several key metrics, including rushing yards allowed per game (185.7), yards per carry (5.4), and defensive rushing EPA per play.

First roud picks in a highly rated QB class next year (still a gamble) with Prescott a bit injury prone lately. And again the next.

I feel like the green Seahawk helmets are trying to be the Eagles from a parallel timeline.

Other than that, Seattle’s rival uniform is boring, just little shiny green “feathers” and player numbers.

As you said, too different from the real uniform to make sense.

“Oops I spilled some green glitter paint on my away uniform!”

Hello from London. Spotted in the wild, the actual Jacksonville Jaguars jersey. These international games are more of a selling merch gig.

I’ve seen Jags, Cowboys and Bills jerseys so far. No one had a clue about the teams themselves.

Dallas seems to be getting dragged everywhere for the trade. I’m a Dallas hater and I think it’s a good trade for them. Fans are looking only at what Parsons can do on the field. Off the field he’s a guy in the last year of his contract who doesn’t want to be there and asked for a trade. To get two number ones, a good player, and a ton of cap space to get rid of locker room poison is a good deal.

I don’t get this. Has there been a bunch of evidence that he’s a bad teammate, doesn’t work hard, or is a gigantic douchebag that I don’t know about?

Not wanting to play under a contract that makes you insanely underpaid, wanting a secure, longer term contract, and discovering Jerry Jones is an egotistical asshole with bad GM skills isn’t even close to making a player a bad guy.

Same here. My understanding is that Parsons grew up a Cowboys fan, and was thrilled to be a member of that team; I’ve not seen evidence of anything other than he felt pissed that Jimmy Jones was trying to pressure him into a lesser contract without his agent’s involvement.
