Thanks much, that was a fun little rabbit hole.

I used to know that you didn’t dress all 53, only 48-ish. That was the common knowledge I completely spaced. (I also used to know the emergency QB rules, but I think those changed.) Looks like gameday promotion is new.

TLDR of the article: Any given practice squad player can only be promoted like this twice in a season, including playoffs. And you have to pay them more, and that counts against the salary cap. Probably less than a million, but still, even a half million unexpected cap hit could be a headache.

That’s why it’s not a defacto 55-man roster where you just have 2 “super practice squad” players who you activate every week. Which was going to be my followup question.

I ran across an interesting stat today and just verified it.

The two teams whose offenses have yet to score 10 TDs are the winless Chargers (well, yeah…) and the undefeated Vikings (?!).

Tennessee (10 + 1 blocked punt return) and Miami are next lowest with 11 total followed by Arizona and Cleveland at 13, which all make sense.

Minnesota does have 10 total TDs, but one was a punt return. Good thing they have a stout defense
