Buried in the 53 man roster shenanigans, getting certain players on certain injury lists, the 49ers let veteran WR Demarcus Robinson change his jersey number to 11. That was Brandon Aiyuk’s number, but he retired (even if he doesn’t know it).

Incidentally, [Robinson’s player profile page](https://www.49ers.com/team/players-roster/demarcus-robinson/) on the team website says he named his son and daughter “Tsunami” and “Thunder” respectively. Awesome names, IMHO.

Miami is clearly tanking on purpose. They took on nearly $100 million in dead cap for 2026 and 2027 for cutting Tua plus they have a new GM and coach, too. They and everybody else know they’re in rebuilding mode and expecting a competitive team anytime soon is delusional.

The Jets are also shedding cap and Aaron Glenn is possibly going to take the fall for it. If he doesn’t realize that, he’s also delusional. They’ve got almost as much dead cap this season due to former QBs (Justin Fields and Aaron Rodgers) this season as Miami, but their 2027 is looking much better cap-wise.

And, of course, it’s left to be seen if New England is actually a top ten team or they’re overestimated based on one season where a lot of things broke their way (few injuries, easiest schedule in decades, unsustainable win rate in close games). If their injuries go to league average, they’re in trouble - they don’t have a lot of depth past their starters.

This is distressingly very true. They made a bunch of moves around the cutdown deadline to bring in new players via trade and then waivers, showing a lack of confidence in the back-ups on the roster. They also played zero starters in the final preseason game to avoid injury (and their back-ups got completely smoked by the Browns).

I read on ESPN. where the Packers GM hasn’t seen the Jacobs tape. I read it as head in the sand regarding the accusations. And the Colts are ok with starting/playing Allen (DUI/OWI). Not so bad, he didn’t hit anyone, yet. Not the most positive impression to make on your new team going into the season; drunk out in the early morning.

Former Bears and Penn State fullback Matt Suhey passed away in his sleep last night, at age 68.

Suhey played ten seasons for the Bears, and was Walter Payton’s blocking back for most of those seasons; he was a starter on the Bears’ 1985 Super Bowl team. After retiring, he remained close with Payton, and Payton’s family.

In looking at [his entry](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SuheMa00.htm) on Pro Football Reference, I learned that both his father and grandfather played in the NFL.
