A search only told me who’s been fined recently but not what I am curious about. What do they do with the money players pay in fines? Do they donate it it to Unicef on behalf of the NFL, or something else?

I think The United Way. My man Kyle Turley is going to contribute about 15k this week. That prick Robinson from the Jets was fined $27K for bringing an assault rifle to a game. He should be fined just as much for intentionally twisting Aaron Brooks head untill Turley pulled him off. Watching Turley smash that pricks head into the ground was worth loosing the game over. GO SAINTS!

Thanks, CLedet, I did mean the United Way, not Unicef.[sub]Go Saints[/sub] But, from your post, I gathered you weren’t really sure either. Anyone have a clue as to what the NFL does with the money?

From a story on [ESPN.com](http://espn.go.com/nba/s/2001/0406/1168454.html) about NBA fines:

> [@](#):
>
> **National Football League**
> Player fines totaled some $1.1 million during the 2000 season, according to Arthur McAfee, staff counsel for the NFL Player’s Association. The money was split equally among four organizations, the league’s charities of choice for many years: the Lombardi Cancer Research Center, Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund, ALS Neuromuscular Research Foundation and the Player’s Association Assistance Trust Fund.
>
> **National Hockey League**
> Approximately $1.25 million has been collected this season, mostly from players salaries lost during league-levied suspensions. All money collected is donated to the NHL Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund, which helps financially-strapped former players, league spokesman Frank Brown said.
>
> **Major League Baseball**
> Baseball funnels fine money either to a central fund, which is shared among the league’s 30 teams, or in some cases it goes to the charity of the player’s choice, according to Rich Levin, the league’s spokesman. Baseball player fines and suspensions are considered minimal when compared to the other leagues.

Apparently, the NBA, which collects more in fines than the other three sports combined, doesn’t release the total amount collected or where it goes.

Thanks JeffB. I’m happy that the monies go to good causes, especially since the only thing I could find was [this](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/features/superbowl/archive/15/);

> [@](#):

> - I asked Flores, 'Hey, where does all that money go? " Upshaw said. "He said,‘To me.’ By the end of the week he had enough for a new BMW.\*

But I think that quote was more in reference to a team fine as opposed to a league fine.
