NFL Offseason 2022

Marion Barber III found dead, I really hope this isn’t the start of a much worse story.

No more Fitzmagic:

Thanks for that whopping 3 of 6 for 13 yards. Couldn’t have had the season we did without you. LOL

His passing was noted in a Great Debates thread on football concussions last night; there, I posted a link to the story about his death in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where they noted he had had several mental health evaluations since his retirement, and a run-in with the law a couple of years ago, in which it sounds like he rammed his body into a couple of cars.

The article also contained a tweet from last year, from his former teammate Dez Bryant, who described Barber as being “down and out bad.”

Between all of that, and the fact that Barber had a very physical running style, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had suffered from CTE.

It appears that he holds the NFL record for most career passing yards and passing touchdowns for a quarterback who never appeared in the postseason.

Patrick - not a huge deal, but calling someone by their preferred name is not that difficult.

Huh? Oh, you’re right, I forgot the “i”.

What I meant was “Pat Mahomies”

Just keep digging.

Mr. Garrison, Wendy and I feel that was a racist statement.

I mean. it’s just a stupid joke. Apologies.

Also holds the record for greatest number of teams to play as starting quarterback (9).

Commanders DC Jack Del Rio decides to make some political comments.

Doesn’t he remember that he’s a coach on a team that is BASED in Washington, D.C.?!

Don’t you know that vandalism, which was a small part of the protests going on, is the same as attempting to overthrow the government. Obviously, Jack Del Rio gets it.

Considering the name of Patrick’s charitable foundation, I really think you’re OK: https://www.15andthemahomies.org/

Police murdering black people good, republicans acknowledging and accepting losing elections bad.

Oh! I didn’t know Mahomes actually did call his fans that.

In that case, it’s I who owe you an apology, @FoieGrasIsEvil.

You don’t since the funny thing is, I didn’t know that either. I just hear “My homies” in my head sometimes when I hear Patrick’s last name. And someone corrected me on “Pat”, a common shorthand for Patrick. I didn’t call him “Patty-cakes” or anything, so what gives there anyway? Has he come out and publicly said he doesn’t like being called that?

I’ve never heard that he doesn’t like being called “Pat,” but I suspect that he may go by “Patrick” to differentiate from his father, Pat Mahomes, who was a journeyman MLB pitcher in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Interesting that the Washington Commanders are a sponsor of Capital Pride in D.C. and have a special Commanders sports zone at the pride festival. Not quite what I’d expect out of Dan Snyder.

Somehow I doubt it was his idea.
