Nah, the Bears are gone. This isn’t a “threaten to move to LA” move anymore.
BINGO!
I’ve long thought about making a bingo game about the utterly meaningless cliches that pop up in the NFL. Today’s winner is Dak Prescott with the ever-popular training camp cliche: He’s in the best shape of his career.
I was saying the city wants them to stay at Soldier Field for reasons, not lose them to the suburbs. The idiots in charge would end up giving more in taxpayer dollars than they would receive in taxes and other revenue. “But we’ll make it up in volume, the Mayor said.”
Pro Bowl LT Duane Brown, recently released by Seattle, was arrested for trying to bring a gun on a plane.
I’m disappointed. He always seemed very responsible and was a leader. I didn’t expect this sort of thing from him.
It might be a case where he forgot it was there, but… Even if that’s true, how good is it to forget where you left a gun?!
Pour one (bottle of ketchup) out:
Man, that’s one corporate renaming that’s going to be hard to get used to. I was going to ask if they are going to repaint the mustard yellow seats to Acrisure’s corporate colors, but of course that is one of the Steelers team colors as well.
Objections to the new Pittsburgh stadium name on the basis of “tradition” are comical. The only reason to feel nostalgically attached to “Heinz Field” is on the basis of longevity; Acrisure is just another huge corporate entity*, selling insurance and cyber services instead of ketchup, sauces and baby food.
*accused of sleazy doings involving New Jersey politics.
At least Heinz is headquartered it Pittsburgh, versus some corporate insurance company from Michigan.
If I were President of Sports, I’d make it a rule that any company sponsoring a stadium must be headquartered in the same metro area.
Matthew Berry, fantasy football commentator and host, is leaving ESPN. I assume ESPN will be spending more time on sports gambling and less time on fantasy.
Fantasy football is gambling.
He’s headed off to NBC. This isn’t about ESPN de-focusing fantasy (which is a silly idea in 2022) but an in-demand talent getting a better deal than ESPN would provide.
I’m more surprised he didn’t end up at an online company like Fanduel or something. Surely, they’d blow 7 or 8 figures on something like this. But maybe he likes the (theoretic) legitimacy of sports news more.
I am sure he would have great insight into the Superb Owl.
It’s nice to hear good news about NFL players in the off season JJ Watt helping out to pay for a funeral, someone was selling their memorabilia to raise money for it.
Kyler Murray and the Cardinals came to an agreement on an extension.
5 years, $230.5 mil with at least $105 million guaranteed. He’ll be the 2nd highest paid QB in the league and with the 2 years left on his current contract, he’ll be under contract for the next 7.
Well, maybe the story is true. She also tried selling her jersey in '18 for another funeral. Stay tuned.
Well, that’s interesting. Very Discworld. I think the Watch got 4 grandmothers’ funerals off a year.
Does she even have four grand–…?
Ohhhhhhhhh.
Texans WR John Metchie III diagnosed with leukaemia.
Best of luck to Metchie. Hopefully he’ll join James Connor, Trent Williams, Eric Berry, and others as cancer survivors flourishing in the NFL.
