This one might actually be a little more explainable, supposedly he was told not to be around the woman and he went to the residence to take some photos too support his defense with the understanding that she would not be there. The po-po interpreted the restraining order as applying to the residence. Could be McDonald simply ignoring a clearly written document or his attorney not doing his job, or it could have been some bureaucracy gone awry and/or some over zealousness by the cops. We’ll see. But maybe this one shouldn’t actually be more fuel on the fire. ---

Absolutely. Three are lots of possible scenarios. I’m not taking a position on McDonald’s guilt or innocence. Just noting that, no matter how complex the situation, our resident “expert” generally finds a way to blame all of these types of situations on the gold-digging whores who are selfish enough to get involved with famous athletes, and inconsiderate enough to expect to be tatted like human beings. ---

It simply seems ridiculous to feel the need to cut a guy on a national holiday. He’s certainly a knucklehead for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and surely he knew he was on the shortest leash imaginable. However, all we have is a lot of he said , she said in what is obviously a very ugly domestic and custody battle. The Bears still need defensive help, would have really mattered if they would have waited until more facts came out? It’s the dead part of the NFL season and even Chicago sports radio has other topics to cover. No need to rush to judgement months before training camp opens ---

Better for him to be cut sooner than later. It’s not like he’s losing any money and he has a better shot of finding a team before training camp. ---

They cut him the day he was arrested. If he didn’t want to be cut on a holiday, he shouldn’t have (allegedly) assaulted anyone on that holiday. ---

What the hell is an “Organized Team Activity”? It’s _practice_ (Allen Iverson explains the concept). Just call it that. Yes, I know the union contract calls it “voluntary”, but no player is dumb enough not to get his ass there and in shape anyway, right? ---

Adrian Peterson is quickly becoming one of the most obnoxious players in the NFL. He must owe a fortune in child support, so no one seriously believes he’s going to sit out or retire. Playing the victim card gets old quickly, no one is going to trade for that contract. ---

I’ll explain it again, there are several weeks until training camp, it’s the deadest part of the NFL season. No one would demand, except the Internet lynch mob, that a personnel decision be made on Memorial Day. Let the facts come in, then cut him if necessary. Defensive lineman don’t grow on trees and you’re not getting choir boys in the NFL ---

There’s a lot of middle ground between choir boys and serial arrestees. There is some indications that the woman in this matter is not a completely innocent victim, but McDonald has had many opportunities to avoid getting into trouble about it and he hasn’t taken them. Add numerous other incidents, it’s clear he just can’t make good choices to keep himself out of trouble. Both the 49ers and Bears cut him after telling him they would cut him if he got into trouble again. ---
