8-7 last week straight up, but apparently my picks are actually _better_ against the spread - go figure. 114-59 on the year, still staying ahead of the boys at The Sporting News (of their 5 or six guys, a new one has taken the lead over there.) Tough pickings this week since I haven’t seen an injury report yet, but here goes nothin’– **Patriots 13 at Lions 24** (Let me get this straight. The Patsies had _two_ receivers over 100 yards and they _still_ needed a field goal at the end of the game to beat the Bungles?) **Vikings 35 at Cowboys 17** (The semi-dome of Texas Stadium is the closest the Vikes get to playing outside for the rest of the season.) **Bills 16 at Buccaneers 20** (Hang on, let me check the forecast. Yep, over 40 degrees.) **Bears 14 at Jets 23** (With Martin injured, this might be tough to call, _if_ they were in Chicago.) **Browns 0 at Ravens 28** (I believe this one will give the Ravens the record for shutous in a season.) **Dolphins 9 at Colts 17** (Hmmm, Zach, Lamar, Jay - all key players and all questionable at this point. If all three play Miami wins, but at this point I have to go with the Colts.) **Saints 17 at Rams 30** (That famous Aaron Brooks to Willie Jackson TD connection will hit for a couple, but not often enough to beat the Rams.) **Eagles 21 at Redskins 24** (I really _want_ to Iggles to win this, mainly because I want it to become clear to Snyder and everyone else that unlike baseball you can’t buy an NFL championship.) **Steelers 16 at Bengals 3** (The home field advantage gets them the three points.) **Falcons 13 at Raiders 26** (Oakland is very quietly going to end up with home field through the playoffs at this rate.) **Titans 23 at Jaguars 24** (The streak, the curse, whatever you want to call it, _will_ end.) **Broncos 24 at Seahawks 21** (The best defense to employ against Frerotte? Thin out the padding in the back of the endzone and let him run one in.) **Chiefs 17 at Charges 20** (Yep, you heard it here first. Something has fallen apart in Kansas City since the Chiefs beat the Rams.) **Giants 24 at Cardinals 16** (It’ll be the Dayne and Barber show again.) **Packers 27 at Panthers 24** (Finally the Packers get to play a team as beat up as they are.) Really pushing the point spread here. Vegas has the line at Vikes -7 with an o/u of 48. Hell, as decimated as Dallas is, the Vikings should score 48 by themselves. The Vikes have the best rushing offense, and the Boys have the worst rushing defense. Robert Smith gets 200? I agree with all of your picks but two: **Bills 24 at Bucs 16** Bills on the upswing, Bucs are stumbling. The book is out “How to beat the Bucs” **Chiefs 17 at Chargers 10** Everyone keeps saying “The Bolts can’t lose them all!!”. Yes they can. ---

Vikes win, 27-15. They would’ve covered if Dallas would’ve finished building the dome. But I’ll take it. 🙂 And Gazoo is 2-0 heading into the weekend. ---

**ChiefWahoo** - Call me crazy, but I actually think the Bucs offense will improve with the loss of Alstott. It will force them to open it up a little more, and Dunn will become their version of Marshall Faulk. As for the Chargers, they have been playing everyone tough, and the wheels seem to have fallen off in Kansas City. **Rysdad** - The way I see it, the Vikings should be able to get home field through the playoffs. (P.S. Can’t Madden and Summerall read an NFL schedule? They kept mentioning how the Vikings now have another win and ten days until they play again. Hello? They play the Lions on _Thursday_ the 30th.) **MysterEcks** - With the ball back in the hands of Akili Smith, all the Steelers have to do is stop Dillon. Just ask the Broncos. Guy I’m playing in my fantasy league does the ‘pick a new defense off the free agent list each week’ bit. He’s pretty good at it, too. The Chiefs _had_ been my first-string defense in fantasy football; believe me, I’d noticed their funk. If the Chargers played one of the really bad teams in the league (Bungles, Browns, Falcons, Cards), they wouldn’t be winless. They lack a lot of things, but they’re better than their record. If Grbac sits, I pick the Chargers, even though I can’t help but root for Warren Moon, who’s almost my age! If Elvis starts, it’s more of a tossup. Oh yeah - Madden and Summerall are both senile. Whaddaya expect? I just wonder why nobody in the Fox executive suites has caught on to how totally they suck. ---

Great call on the Chargers, even if there were indications that this might have been the week. _Tremendous_ call on the Jaguars. I’d just about left them for dead. Any Given Sunday syndrome strikes again. Hats off for counting on the Bucs to have one of their good games this week. The whole quarterback flap in Buffalo really skewed the focus of the team at a time when they should have simply been riding the streak. The onside kick, eh, unlucky break, but it might not have made a difference. Redskins…bah, who the hell knows how they’ll do. This season they’re worse than the Lions, Packers, and Giants _put together_. By the way, good luck on the 'Skins/Giants game next week. 😃 **Two more predictions!** Previously I stated that the Jaguars were going to miss the playoffs and the Raiders were going to win the division. Both look fairly likely, so here’s a couple more to chew on. First, the AFC East only sends two teams to the playoffs. That’s right, I say Denver and Baltimore are BOTH making it. Second…er…the Super Bowl is _not_ Dolphins vs. Rams. (Hey, if I knew more, I’d be betting on these games, all right?) ---

**Falcon** - it’s a deal. We get to keep Warner, Faulk, Bruce, Holt, and Proehl though. **DKW** says, “the Super Bowl is not Dolphins vs. Rams” Meaning the Dolphins or the Rams won’t make it? NOt that it matters, right now I’ll be glad if the Rams make the playoffs at the right we’re going. Kiss homefield advantage goodbye (unless something tragic happens to the Vikings). How the hell did we lose to the SAINTS?! ---
