No kidding. I don’t know what crack **garygnu** is smoking, but pass some over my way. They spent almost the entire game talking about football. And most of that was about the game that was actually being played on the field! No more weaving the game narrative around the context of current events and pop culture; all football all the time. What do you want, Theisman back? ---

Sorry. My intended point was that Kornheiser isn’t a good starting point when you want to compare a color analyst’s value via multiplication. I like Gruden. In other news, the 49ers have implemented a three-second buzzer that tells the QB when he’s held onto the ball too long in practice sessions. I like the idea. ---

Fun fact: there is only one player on the current Detroit Lions roster that was picked by the Lions in the 2006 draft. Elgin Baylor, I knew Matt Millen. Matt Millen was a friend of mine. You, sir, are no Matt Millen. ---

Looks like my **Seahawks** aren’t even waiting until Week 1 to get injured this year. Some dude from SI wrote about the NFC’s [All-indispensable team](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/john_lopez/08/20/nfc.players/index.html). I only bring it up because it cracks me up that Shaun Smith is the Detroit Lions’ most indespensable player. A guy who couldn’t even cut it on the Browns defense, who punched a teammate and runs his mouth off to the media is the player Detroit can’t be without. I don’t know if the writer is nuts or if Detroit is that pathetic. Shaun Smith is a moderately talented role player - he’s tough to move but has very little quickness and lateral movement, so he can be a roleplayer as a 2 down NT, but come on… ---
