> Why would you start a QB that barely played at all last season and only got a quarter’s worth of work in this preseason? Surely you could have started a second tier guy and done better. Palmer needs more work with his WR’s.

It’s a weird league where you start 2 QBs every week. Palmer is my #2. I have Stafford as my #3 and with McNabb as my #1 I’m pretty concerned about the prospects of this season. I was going to grab Flacco in the middle rounds as a 3rd option/matchup play but had him nabbed from me at the last second. With the short bench I could be pretty screwed if Stafford doesn’t round into form in a hurry.

Ah. I have McNabb in one of my leagues too, and I guess I’m sort of fucked…my backups are either Pennington or Cassel. Fortunately my wideouts are Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and Roy Williams, and my RB’s are Addai and Steven Jackson, so hopefully I can muddle around in mediocrity until McNabb is healthy again.

And some major action from my beloved Schobel clan of footballers. Aaron has a sack, and an interception return for a touchdown. God I’d love it if the Bills beat the Pats.

GO SCHOBELS!!!

The first rule of Schobel fandom is you do not talk about Schobel fandom.

Don’t feel bad. The Pack has a chance at home. Do you really underestimate the Bengals that badly? They’re hardly any worse than anyone else in your division, a division that we beat every team in only a few short years ago.

The Packers are not _all that_ based on a single win against a Bears team with no running game and no wideouts.

Nah, it was fun smack talk, pure and simple. I think the Packers will handily beat the Bengals, but this is the NFL and nothing is certain.

Well, as a Broncos fan, I do have some interest in the game. And I guess I’m forced to root, however slightly, for the Raiders in this one. But I can get behind your seppuku idea for a Chargers loss to the Raiders.

Was it explained earlier why everyone is in butt-ugly throwbacks? 40th year of MNF or something? And what is with the refs? Those things hurt my eyes.

Right now I’m feeling pretty happy with my preseason faith in the Bills offensive attack. Kinda wish I’d have been more eager to land Fred Jackson though, he’s been great. Of course that damned screen pass was probably the final nail in the coffin in my money league unless Gates and Moss go huge for the rest of the night (while Evans and Edwards keep quiet).

Yes, four short years, a blink of the eye in NFL time.

Wow, what a collapse by the Bills. How do you risk running the ball out of the endzone and give Brady and Moss, et al, another chance like that?

Stupid. And then run the ball out AGAIN, gaining one yard over a touchback and running five seconds off the clock in the process. Fire the special teams coach.

The Bills have a record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory that they may be even better at it than the Browns. I tip my hat to you, sirs.

We have regained form, with a little offensive rust to shake out. Our defense is good. The Bears suck, even with Cutler, as they have no wide receivers.

Wait, aren’t you a Bears fan anyway?

The Bills special teams coach is actually pretty good. I can’t think that those decisions were authorized by him. McKelvin may not be returning kicks next week.

He led the league in kick return average last season. Of course, I have no idea what he thought advancing the ball would achieve. It doesn’t matter if you run out the clock on your own 20 or the opponent’s 5.

When McKelvin caught the ball there was 2:06 on the clock. By running it out he took the clock below the two minute warning and effectively took a time out away from the Pats. His real mistake was fighting for an extra half yard when he could have just gone down right away.
