So did a bunch of overconfident d-bags in Foxboro a couple of years back. In fact, leading up to SB42, who was it that was supposed to be so unbeatable in that NFC Championship game?
Holding on 17 there on Ingram’s TD.
I was almost thinking it would be better if the Packers lost today, so they don’t think they can play that badly and still win. But I suppose having the experience of winning one late is good to have in their back pockets too. Going on the road and beating a team with its back against the wall, with Hawk and Bishop both out, makes me happy. Six dropped passes does not.
That was some horrible play by the injured Bengals defense, and some really, REALLY crappy calls by the officials. Good grief…the non-call on the block in the back on the punt return for a TD right in front of the ref, the phantom face mask, the 45 yard PI call…ugly.
How much press has Rodger’s “best season ever” gotten compared to the amount of press Tebow has gotten? I realize that intelligent folks recognize Rodgers’ amazing accomplishments, but by and large Tebow is the biggest story out there. And I’m more than happy to have the sideshow taking the press.
I’ve never seen so many members of the press jerking off to a QB as they have over Tebow.
You must have missed the last several seasons of Favre’s “Am I retiring? Am I not? I shall keep you all guessing! Mwuaahahahahaha!” reign.
You watch weird sports shows.
(no, seriously, on the morning ESPN shows you usually see one guy supporting Tebow and everyone else calling him an idiot)
I do wonder if the coverage is in part due to how much hatred there is for him. People don’t always turn it off when positive coverage of a player they hate comes up - often they keep watching and rage. But it’s not all positive - there’s a lot of “Could Tebow be for real?” “No, you idiot” type stuff.
Madonna is the superbowl halftime show.
That’s some edgey stuff in 1986. Bold, NFL.
I was watching ESPN last week and the injuries Houston has sustained this year at QB. They are down to their third string, and the discussion became “well, who can they get at that position?” Guess who one of the commentators mentioned as a late-season addition. I heard that and thought “Noooo! Don’t say that! If he hears that, Farve is gonna be on a plane to Houston within the hour. Don’t give him any ideas or it will never end!”
Christ, what idiots. I was (and still am) a Favre fan, but the guy is OLD. O.L.D. He couldn’t seriously fill that hole, so I am forced to assume that the commentators were joking.
Haha, Detroit player throwing a punch at a guy with the ref in between them. Detroit has really got their thugs under control after that Suh incident.
I know some players introduce themselves with their high school rather than their college. But did I hear one player tonight introduce himself by saying what elementary school he went to?
And what’s the deal with The Ohio State University? Sure, the definite article is part of its official name but the same is true about other colleges. Why does The Ohio State University make such an issue out of it?
The Lions are fucking out of control.
Because they’re douchebags. Seriously, after you’ve been in the NFL for more than one year it no longer matters where you got paid to play your college ball. It’s just another opportunity for idiots to “express their individuality”, or as I like to call it “say something really stupid”.
Frankly, I’m tired of the whole “have the players state their college” thing. If you’re a rookie, okay. But after that, your team is your NFL team.
Green Bay is going to get home field and they’re having a great season, but right now I think New Orleans is playing better.
I bleed Black & Gold, but the Saints D is pretty shaky. If the Lions didn’t give up over 100 yards in penalties, this game may have come out differently. The Saints are an offensive machine, but they have to be to compensate for the defense. Give me some magical means of combining this offense with the Dome Patrol from back in the day, and I’ll show you consecutive undefeated seasons.
Green Bay’s defense didn’t shock the world either today, although they do force a bunch of turnovers. We can say for sure that the G-Men got shredded by the Saints and they gave Green Bay a real challenge- although the Giants are usually maddeningly inconsistent anyway. I had a feeling they were going to show up today but I didn’t think they would play so well.
