NFL Week 14

Seneca Wallace stepped in for one play and looked like he knew where he was going with the ball, and threw a nice little pass with more zip than anything we’ve seen out of McCoy this year. I think they were worried that Wallace might look like the hero, making their boy look bad. Which makes me think McCoy is still in the long term plans.

Which is infuriating from every angle - not taking your best chance to win a winnable game, specifically to support someone who’s not good enough to be an NFL QB, specifically so that you can make your team suck another year.

Shurmur is fucking horrible. But you can’t fire a coach after 1 year. So he’s going to waste 2012 too. And it’s unlikely his replacement is going to be great right off the bat, so there goes 2013. So the first chance the Browns have of being decent is 2014. Awesome.

Edit:
The staph issue wasn’t on them - they paid a lot for expert medical teams from all over the country to come in and try to figure out the problem and sterilize the whole place. The independent evaluations also said that there was no systemic failure leading to the staph infections - just bad luck.

Incidentally, it’s fucking ridiculous that Suh gets (deservedly) suspended for stomping on a guy’s arm, which at most might result in a bruise - but James Harrison admits that his style of play is to try to hurt people, and he’s trying to give people fucking brain damage, but the worst he’ll get is a fine.

Interesting; I hadn’t heard about that follow-up. Another example of how bad / sensational news gets lots of press, but the more mundane disproving of it doesn’t seem to.

I’m a little worried about the 49ers’ game in Arizona this week. It has all the markings of a trap game against a team that’s been playing well. I think/hope that the collective superior talent of the 49ers will win out. No letting up: we have a lot to play for. (Plus, the Cardinals are a bunch of pansies, anyway.)

On James Harrison, he deserves a suspension. When he inevitably complains, the league response should be, “Stop hitting people in the head with your head. End of discussion, you idiot.”

Eh, there are four games left. You probably won’t get the #1 seed and you probably won’t lose the #2 seed. It would only be a concern if you went 0-4, and the 49ers are not going to do that.

New Orleans is only 1 game back. The Saints have a couple potentially tough games ahead (Titans tomorrow and Falcons in a couple weeks), but they have the potential to win through.

I don’t think the 49ers lose 2 games (I think they get the tie-breaker over the Saints if they have the same record), but even so. Roethlisberger might be out for MNF, but you still don’t want to underestimate the Steelers and don’t want to drop a game to the Cardinals and put the first round bye in doubt.

The Thugs are out to a bit of a lead.

It’s amazing how blatantly and regularly Brady looks for Gronk in the red zone and teams aren’t triple teaming him yet.

I just saw the Eagles punter get run into and basically tackled by two Dolphins, and the call was offensive holding. Of course it was. And I’m treated to another replay showing a penalty against the Eagles’ opponent that wasn’t called.

Ok, after seeing the replay, they did cover Gronk pretty heavily, it was just a beautiful pass and catch.

Yeah, perfectly placed ball on the Gronk TD. And did you see the play before? If he had managed to stay on his feet for the last 10 yards, that would have been #1 on SportsCenter tomorrow.

In a defense that is starting a wide receiver at safety and running out another wide receiver as the nickel back… McCourty is looking really, really bad. He has given up a 50 yard pass, a blatant pass interference on 3rd and 18, and just got badly beaten by Gaffney on the TD.

Tyler Palko has no business being a starting NFL quarterback. He’s absolutely horrid.

Cleveland 17, Baltimore 0

They’re really moving it now…

They just had literally 3 guys on Gronk in the red zone… I think that was for you, Beef.

That 's a complete bullshit roughing the passer call on Washington.

Unnecessary roughness, but yeah, I agree. Brady didn’t get down quickly enough and that was a completely clean hit.

I know, it’s so bad at this point that it’s funny. At least you finally understand and agree.

The Saints-Titans game is being grossly over-officiated. 15 flags in the first half, really ticky-tack bullshit. The refs need to back off and let the guys play.

Haha, the Texans/Bengals announcers:

“Tackle made by Adam ‘don’t call me pac-man’ Jones”
“Yes, Pac Man jones had the coverage and…”
