Welp, the Packers sacked the shit out of Cutler and the Bears. I was pretty surprised by the way the Packer defense had their way with that Bears oline, especially after the Packers poor defensive showing against the 49ers. Anyway, Week 2 has already begun. My team, the Bengals, got absolutely stomped by the Ravens offense in the second half of their game for all to see on MNF. This weekend they get the Brownies for their home opener, and I fully expect the Bengals to take out their ire on them after their poor showing on Monday. Week 2! NFL Football! Fuck yes! ---

Well, the Browns defense looked pretty decent last week, but Joe Haden is out this week, so yeah I expect AJ Green to go wild. The Browns are getting 7 points and I’d give them that all day. ---

With the way the Browns v Bengals games tend to go (wacky, high-scoring affairs like the Palmer/Anderson duel from 2007) or ugly, grind-it-out games, seven is a generous line. That said, I fully expect the Bengals to kick the shit out of the Browns! 🙂 ---

Yeah, the Bears O line just couldn’t protect Cutler last night. Reminded me of watching Archie Manning run for his life in the 70s. Really, truly, honestly, and deeply hate the NFL Network’s pregame show and opening song. Think I’ll adjust my viewing schedule to tune in just in time for kickoff in the future. The Saints are @Carolina this week. Hoping to see a much improved performance with an offensive game plan that doesn’t abandon the run halfway through the first quarter. A defense that can force a three and out a few times would be nice, too. ---

I can’t remember Mike Mayock’s co-announcer last night, Nick something maybe, but they were soooo much better than MNF’s slip of fools. If you like watching Cutler pout, last night was your night. I had Green Bay for 3 in a 1-16 pool. Agreed, they’re pretty good (Brad Nessler is the play-by-play guy). Mayock knows a ton about the game, is insightful, and is generally good at communicating those things…but he drove me a little nuts last night by continually repeating, “the Bears are imploding” (and I say that as a diehard Packer fan 😛 ). ---

Thomas Howard, the Bengals best LB, tore his ACL in practice and is done for the year. This led to the Bengals re-signing Rodrick Muckleroy off the street and also promotes Vontaze Burfict into the starting lineup, which will either be really amazing or amazingly bad. ---

Owen Marecic is the worst fucking starting player in the nfl. They won’t admit they blew a 5th on a useless fullback so they keep starting him. And we already fucking had Vickers. ---

Scab refs ran clock after out of bounds play. I get that holding etc may slip past them but how do they fuck up number of time outs, whether to run the clock, etc. ---

When they initially put the clock back to 1:54 I was like “Hey! They don’t get _that_ much time!” Browns have themselves a defense and a good RB, despite the absence of their starting CB’s. Andy Dalton is not sharp. He’s missed quite a few open receivers with overthrows and throws behind the guy. Still not much in the way of pressure from that vaunted Bengals front four. Missing Carlos Dunlap again is creating double teams on Geno Atkins. ---

One of the refs originally assigned to the Saints game got replaced because he posted pics to his facebook page of himself wearing Saints gear and tailgating at the Dome from an earlier game. One of his friends helpfully suggested he give us a few calls. Apparently, the NFL frowns on that sort of thing. Saints aren’t looking like contenders so far this year. Down 21-13 at the half, and the defense is getting manhandled again. ---
