He’s been suspended for illegal hits 3 times before. The shorter suspensions clearly didn’t take.
Was Burfict actually smiling and blowing kisses to the Indy crowd as he ran off the field? I’m surprised he made to the airport in one piece.
An irony here is that Runyan, who’d played 15 years as an offensive lineman in the league, was named as one of the league’s dirtiest players when he played. (I know, an offensive lineman playing dirty. No way!)
He didn’t deny it, claiming, “That’s the way the game’s supposed to be played. I think they’ve tried to change that over the years. It’s turned into a basketball game out there.”
He’s a piece of something all right.
The NFL penalized hits leading with the helmet starting in 1996, so even 20 years ago Burfict’s hit would not have been legal. I wonder if a ban will be considered for him. He needs to stop playing football.
No one has any clue who’s going to start at QB for the Redskins against the Patriots. I’ve heard Colt McCoy. I have no idea how bad of an injury Keenum has or if it’s more a cover for his bad play the last two games. Do they really want to throw Haskins out there in a brutal matchup?
And, is McCoy back to 100%? He hasn’t take a snap.
Jumping ahead to week 5 here, just for a question. The Bears will play Oakland in London next week. The schedule I picked up at the liquor store claims a noon central start on Fox. Is that accurate? I’ve never tuned in to a London game. Will noon central be a rebroadcast? I have no idea how this works. Thanks.
It’s 10:00 AM Pacific Standard Time according to the interwebz, so that would be noon Central time, yes.
That makes it a 6:00 PM game in London, so that seems to work out fine.
That’s correct. In the past the games have aired in the morning, but the game will take place at 6 PM London time, so noon central is live.
If anybody cares, there were TWO Scorigami games yesterday (games that ended in a final score that has never happened before in NFL history:
Browns 40, Ravens 25
Bucs 55, Rams 40
The second game isn’t really a shocker, but I’m mildly surprised that never before has a game ended with a 40-25 score.
The Steelers totally got jobbed on an offensive pass interference call late in the first quarter. The receiver put his hand on the defender’s back for a second or so, no push off, no grab, no effort to impede the defender in any way but it still drew a flag. But hey, that’s why we can review those plays now right? Wrong. The call was upheld on review.
At this point I have no idea what pass interference is anymore.
Why did the Bengals take 2 timeouts on the Steelers 2 minute drive to end the half? So you give them the opportunity to score and get the ball back down at least 7.
8 sacks. Dalton was definitely the red-headed stepchild.
Can’t quote those who answered my question.
Thanks for that, for some reason I was under the impression that the time difference was greater.
The Ravens posted a story with video on their website entitled "Marlon Humphrey didnt choke Odell Beckham.
It included: "Odell Beckham Jr. definitely punched Marlon Humphrey – also grabbing the cornerback’s facemask, attempting a sweeping leg kick and pulling him to the ground.
Humphrey definitely did not choke Beckham."
Surprisingly, it’s not as cut and dried now. Should be interesting to see what the NFL does to Humphrey. And to Beckham for the punch and facemask.
Looked like Humphrey grabbed the jersey first, then they both went to the ground (rather awkwardly), Odell threw a punch, then the whole choking/grabbing thing. Humphrey could have let go and walked away. The offsetting penalties were deserved, not sure if anything beyond that is necessary. But the NFL may feel they need to save face somehow.
I have to say though that I love the Browns/Ravens rivalry. You couldn’t have a more natural sports rivalry if you tried. You lose your team which goes to another town and changes its name, and get a new team with a lot of resentment left over. It would be like if Seattle got a new NBA team and started playing against the Thunder.
I’d say it is cut and dried. That video is crystal clear to me, he’s holding the front of his jersey the whole time while Beckham is grabbing his facemask and generally flopping around like a fish. The fact that the ref standing over him didn’t through the flag probably indicates he saw the same thing and that the media and general public were foolish to go on the warpath.
And 12 QB hits. 175 yards of total offense FOR THE GAME. Bengals fans around here are calling for Dalton’s head. I’m like “dude, Andre Smith is our starting left tackle, and Bobby Hart is our starting right tackle. Go fuck yourself!”. I mean…we have the absolute worst offensive line in the league. Mixon can’t find daylight and Dalton has zero time.
AJ Green needs to be traded. If I were him, I would fall prey to the Jalen Ramsey mystery sickness and bail on this entire season. There’s no benefit to him trying to come back to this shitshow.
It’s truly heartbreaking to see Vontaze Burfict denied the chance to play.
“…he’s a great person, his heart is broken because he’s not playing football. The guy just wants to play football.” - Derek Carr.
