Apparently you’re not allowed to medically check out players from other team’s practice squads before you sign them to your team. And apparently Green Bay had one of their practice squad WRs running around with a torn ACL, and the Browns signed him. So now he’s unable to play, but they have to keep him on the roster for 3 weeks as part of the process of signing someone off a practice squad. WTF is that?

Just desserts for poaching players from the Packer’s practice squad. The day after the Browns sign him, the Packers lose two starting WR’s to injury, so my sympathy for the the Brown’s is nil.

Truthfully, it’s at least in part to how awful Carson Palmer has become, as painful as that is for me to admit.

I’ve heard studies show that people are better at math when you only have to get _close_ to the right answer, not always exact. (So therefore the Bucs are better at winning, I guess.)

SEA -4.5 was the easiest money of the week. Maybe MIN +3.5 at NYG. I don’t think Josh Freeman’s a bum and I wished the Browns would have taken a flyer on him.

Just desserts for “poaching”? It’s perfectly legit, actually, to sign someone from another team’s practice squad. In fact, [the Packers tried to sign a WR from the Broncos’ practice squad](http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_24315207/broncos-promote-tavarres-king-53-man-roster-waive), but the Broncos promoted him to prevent it. Got a problem with that attempted “poach”?

I think you’re disrespecting what the Cards do on defense. I came away from that game wildly impressed with the Cardinals defense and they forced the Seahawks into some tough spots even though the Cards offense is wildly inept and the Seahawks got a ton of favorable no-calls from the zebras.

I think you’re taking a joke far more seriously than **Hamlet** meant it.
In other AFC North news, the Ravens and Steelers play on Sunday for… not much. Baltimore can stay within a game of Cincy by winning, or the Steelers can give their fans a measure of false hope by beating a depleted Ravens team. Either way, it’s the least interesting BAL-PIT game in a long time.

Quite frankly, Seattle’s offense is just not that good. They made Arizona’s defense impress you because they are not really hitting on all cylinders right now. Perhaps Russel Wilson is experiencing sophomore malaise or something. And, of course, they have been having some serious O-Line problems.

Not to be that guy or anything, but this is the Straight Dope after all. The phrase you’re looking for is [“just deserts”](http://www.snopes.com/language/notthink/deserts.asp). As for the football, I’m just hoping that my Chargers can finally win 2 games in a row. I suppose Jacksonville is as good a place as there is in the NFL right now to try to make that happen.

I know nothing of football, but two of my co-workers are ardent KC Chiefs fans. They are over the moon about the Chiefs being 6-0 so far. Can some football person tell me how likely KC is to win tonight against Houston?

Very likely. Houston is a trainwreck right now, and they’re starting a guy at quarterback who has (as far as I know) never taken a snap in the NFL.
If Houston does somehow pull a win out the hat, though, I’d tread lightly around your coworkers tomorrow.
