In general no, but it looked like the Dolphins defense was trained to tackle that way.

Last off-season, the Packers parted way with CB Jaire Alexander. Alexander had been an All-Pro in 2020 and 2022, but he hadn’t been able to stay healthy, and only played in 14 games over 2023 and 2024.

The Ravens had signed Alexander to a one-year contract in June, but he’s only played in 2 games so far, and was a “healthy scratch” five times; they traded him (and a seventh-round pick) to the Eagles today, for a sixth-round pick.

Assuming that you aren’t being sarcastic: I don’t think that Alexander adds much of anything to the Eagles, or any team, at this point.

Two good teams have given up on him this year. The Packers _knew_ that CB was not a position of strength for them, and yet they decided that Alexander wasn’t worth keeping. He keeps getting injured, he’s also a bit of a head case, and he’s now three years removed from his last actual productive season. The Ravens were unimpressed enough with him that they barely used him, even though he was technically healthy.

Then again, he only cost the Eagles a sixth-round pick, and they got a seventh in return (plus Alexander), which is only slightly more than a ham sandwich. If Alexander suddenly finds the fountain of youth (and non-weirdness) in Philadelphia, even for just this last half of the season, more power to them.

I actually really like those. YMMV, of course.

Part of the issue that the Packers have with secondary and throwback uniforms (which are, honestly, mostly an excuse by the league and teams to sell more merchandise) is that, unlike most teams, their uniforms and helmets have been largely unchanged since around 1960. So, any “throwbacks” need to go even further back, and may look odd when translated into modern uniform and helmet styles.

It looked pretty obvious that Young was inbound when he was hit to me. I couldn’t figure out what he was thinking other than that maybe he was waving his arm to signal he was giving himself up. But I think it’s ok for Olson to correct himself after watching the replay.

Patriots (barely) win their 6th straight game.

At the start of this season, I think the over/under date for this streak happening would have been something like October 2032.

The Packers have been playing down to the level of their opponents for weeks, and digging themselves into holes. It bites them in the ass today, as they lose to the Panthers, and go 1-for-5 in red zone opportunities.
