Yeah, I just read in the paper he had a third stroke. Jesus, these guys weren’t just legends, they were pioneers. If it hadn’t been for them, we’d have had no Gretzky, no Orr, no Lemieux. They WERE hockey. RIP, Mr. Beliveau. ---

Daniel Alfredsson signed a one day ceremonial contract and is out skating in the warm-ups with the Senators for one last time after announcing his retirement this morning. I have nothing but admiration and respect for Mr. Alfredsson. It’s an emotional night, even for some Leaf fans. 😉 ---

He’s near the top of the list of guys who deserved to lift the cup, but never made it. ---

I think Marty has a lot of gas left in the tank. I expect he’ll have a great run with the Blues. Time will tell. He’s obviously an instant hall-of-famer when he retires. ---

I’m sure I will regret this with my unrivaled powers of jinxing, but woohoo Wings. I thought they would step up a bit this year, but died for conference point lead in December is way ahead of the schedule anyone expected. Looks Like Datsyuk took advantage of his injury time off to realize that they have playmakers on every line without him needing to look to set up everything up, It’s a good time for him to start shooting. ---

It’s a weird decision since almost everyone agrees that it’s the players on the ice that need to improve, not coaching. And on the heels of a fantastic comeback victory in overtime!? ---

They still have $19M on the table according to Cap Geek. That could be used for some serious upgrades, Eugene. Maybe they want in on the McDavid lottery. ---

The problem is clearly with Mr. MacLean’s boss, not Mr. MacLean. But Bryan Murray wasn’t going to fire himself. ---

No, but considering his health and the team’s situation, you’d think he would bow out graciously and let another GM pick the team’s direction for the future. Over the last couple of years, there have been some questionable decisions made when it comes to which players are given contract extensions, traded away, or left to free agency. ---

The Chicago Blackhawks are firing on all cylinders now. A goal from Bickell against the Devils , and their two backup goalies are playing better than Crawford. This team looks ready to win another cup. ---

Man the Wings shootouts are just Pathetic. If they could go 50-50 they would have a decent lead. Babcock should just change things up next time and send out the young D guys or something, just to break the building pressure. ---
