So am I right he has also played the exact same amount of games as Gretzky? Impressive. Of course Gretzky had 1,200 more assists in addition to those goals at this point. ---

Ovechkin also breaks his tie with Jagr for most game winners, and extends his 40-goal season record to 14. ---

I mean he still holds damn near every other record, including total goals. I think he’s probably ok with one of his records being barely surpassed by another top 10 player. It’s also brought back up the conversation about him and how ludicrous all his other accomplishments are. ---

He’s talked before how nice and genuinely happy Gordie was about him breaking Gordie’s records. I think Gordie sort of set the standard for how to handle moments like these and now Gretzky is paying it forward. ---

Amazing hockey moment. Am I happy or sad it happened against my team? The crowd in Queens loved it. What an amazing thing to see in person! Wish I was there. During the handshake, Sorokin (the goalie he scored on) was smiling as well when Ovie and he met on the ice. I guess they had that whole shebang ready to go for the last few games. ---

From the “It doesn’t matter, but damn what a game” department: The Stars go up 5-2 in the third against the Canucks, with one minute left. Pretty solid lead, huh? Nope, Vancouver scores at 19:00, 19:30 and 19:53 of the third, then scores at 03:44 into overtime. Never leave a hockey game, folks. 🤠 ---

I couldn’t believe that game. Seven seconds away from being officially eliminated for a play-off spot. Probably lose the next game anyway to put the kibosh on yet another disappointing season. ---

I’d think tonight’s three games should hopefully bring the west’s wild card spots into focus. Wild hosting the Ducks with 95 points, Blues hosting Utah with 94 points, and the Flames hosting Vegas with 92 points and a final game in hand. Blues have the tiebreaker over the Flames and the Wild have the tiebreaker over both of them.
