# NHL All Star Game

Cool way to select the teams. But I distinctly remember someone suggesting this idea in a “Rules I’d like to Change” thread, had to be 5 months ago. Too lazy to search, so what’s the deal? Badly kept secret by the NHL? I don’t think so, I watch hockey news everyday. Please enlighten.

[Here you go](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=12280651#post12280651), although I think the NHL might be doing it a little bit differently. The hockey operations people in the NHL are choosing the captains; they won’t be chosen by winning the fan voting, as I proposed.

The NHL All-Star game gets a bad rap from a lot of fans and media for being a no-hitting, fairly noncompetitive affair, and I guess the league is trying to change things a little bit by appealing to the players’ pride.
