Just watch him sometime. Diving, cheap shots, showboating, whining, more diving, all of them on full display in this series. Damn talented player, but never learned sportsmanship. BTW: Who is that girl the Canadiens have screeching the US anthem before their games? My ears are still bleeding. ---

And let me add that, if Boston traded Marchand for Subban, my feelings about both guys would probably reverse. 🙂 ---

Some good luck charm apparently. That’s the first I’ve ever seen of her too. ETA: I guess she’s now the Habs Kate Smith. (For those of us old enough to remember.) ---

I thought their good luck charm was that old lady who could barely stand up, and seemingly forgot for awhile that “O Canada” has English lyrics too. ---

So, the Leafs give Randy Carlyle a two year contract extension. I assume that means there is going to be lots of turn over on the roster. ---

The Leafs played atrociously and would undoubtedly have melted down even with Bernier being in; they were one of the worst defensive teams in the 30-team period of NHL history. I’m not a big dan of “well, this team was great when they weren’t losing.” Oer the course of the season the Leafs had 84 points and lost 44 out of 82 games. That’s how good they were. They were unlucky in March, but very lucky earlier. It evened out. They deserved to lose about 44 games, and they did. The question is whether it’s Randy Carlyle’s fault that they lost 44 games and my inclination is to say it is not. The Leafs iced an absolutely dreadful defensive club, one so bad that it’s very difficult for me to see how any coach could have gotten more than Carlyle did. He didn’t have that much of a hand in choosing their personnel. You can kick a mule in the ass all you want and it won’t win the Kentucky Derby. ---
