Incorrect. They traded up to take Fleury at one. They LOST the Ovechkin lottery and “settled” for taking Malkin second. They won the league-wide lottery wherein everyone had an equal shot at Crosby. Then they took Jordan Staal second overall.

Then Malkin finally escaped Russia and Staal lept from Juniors to the NHL.

Plus, what is the point? They built from within using the draft and smart moves at the trade deadlines. They didn’t have to “tank” any seasons.

Ah, thank you. It also amuses me, that Detroit is the hometown of Jerome Bettis…and that was where he won the Super Bowl…with the Pittsburgh Steelers. (Facing the Seattle Seahawks, though)

So, where do you think Hossa will journey to next?

Bruins or Capitals…those are the two teams that will be in the 2010 Winter Classic. Hossa and Conklin are probably trying to extend their streak to 3.

Not true. Teams had between 1-3 balls in the lottery, depending on how much success they’d had in recent years.

I did? How the hell did I manage that? I didn’t even call the right number of games in the final…

Calling the winner was worth 16, calling the winner in the right amount of games an extra 8(nobody did). Point total another 8(nobobdy did). You had 35, you were one of 3 to pick the pens, everyone else called the wings.

Looking back I should have gave points for just getting the games right, if you called the series winner or not. I just thought that would be too cheap, like playing slop at pool. If you called one team in a sweep and the team you called lost in a sweep, I didn’t feel someone should deserve points for that. I was looking at the hockey challenge they had on nhl dot com. They gave points for calling the correct number of games regardless who one. I’ll do it that way next year.
