NHL Playoffs

Yeah, he was super pissed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him come that unglued before.

How the hell did the goal attempt by the Flyers at 12:39 in the third period not get reviewed???

I SAW THE PUCK CROSS THE LINE!!!

Wings are in a rut. 4 goals every game. Ozzie gave up another goal. Take him out, put in Conklin.

Canucks advance.

Sweep!!!

Those were the stats I was talking about! Thanks for finding them.

Hey! Uh…
…wait, no, that’s exactly what’s happening here!

The rumours are running wild. I’m wondering if the infirmary brigade will suit up tonight; Lang, Markov, Tanguay, Schneider, Brisebois… though leave Bouillon in the locker room. For that matter, ditch Plekanec and either or both Kostitsyns. Heck, just for fun, let’s get Paccioretty and Chippchura back from Hamillton, just because their names are fun to say.

Seriously, everyone has an opinion on what to do to get the Habs to win at least one fucking game against Boston. I don’t think there’s much that could help. Last I read, it looks like Price will be in nets again. I like him (because he’s cute) but I really think Halak would be better.

Oh well. I’ve only been watching hockey since the last Superbowl ended, so my investment is minimal. This city is a bizarre place to live at the moment, though!

I hate hockey, and I hate you.

I wonder if the Hab fans will boo the US Nat’l Anthem again. I remember a past year(but I dont think it was last year) this happened and when they played again in Boston everyone was worried B’s fans were going to do the same. But they responded with a resounding cheer for O’ Canada as I had hoped.

I know Bob Gainey has asked the fans to be respectful but I’m curious as to whether they hate America or just hate the B’s so bad they consider them one and the same.

I wish I was confident enough to hope the Bruins lose tonight just so I can see the response back in Boston but I think it best they finish it tonight so I dont have to worry about a comeback.

Nah, they don’t hate America. They just hate losing, and take it out on songs and cop cars.

It’s a good thing that the Bruins fans cheered Oh Canada, though they should, since Canadian players outnumber American ones 3:1 on that team  Thing is, I know I’ve read just as many articles about American sports fans booing the Canadian anthem as the other way around. It’s stupid no matter who does it.

I think it’s going to be a very ugly crowd downtown tonight, win or lose for the Habs.

It’s not even all Ozzie. No question he’s playing better, but it’s the defense that’s improved the most. Last night was the best example. Every time there was a rebound, a detroit blueliner was there to kick it away. Compare that with Columbus who barely tried to get close to their own net. One player (Commodore) even dove into the Detroit bench to get away from the net.

And a great big thanks to Commodore, for not only providing the biggest laugh of the evening trying to take vengeance for a clean hit by Stuart, but for wasting time harassing Franzen while Zetterberg was busy scoring. Nice job.

There’s no question that Osgood has turned up his game, but the biggest difference in the playoffs vs. the regular season is that the defense is doing what it’s supposed to do: make their goalie look good.

Yup. And the fact that the players don’t seem to be overly friendly either isn’t going to help.

Is this in reference to anything in particular, or just a general impression? I haven’t heard any complaints/stories about the player’s lack of friendliness, but since I’m not sure what context you mean, I could have missed it. The players are generally well liked here when they are winning and the only complaint I can think of is that Koivu doesn’t speak French.

Actually, the RDS guys just ran a segment about how nonchalant Carey Price is. The man is kind of wooden, and he doesn’t speak French either. Perhaps that’s the complaint?

The Bruins and Canadiens don’t like each other much, more so then most rival teams. They have been going at each other with passion unrelated to the score of the game.

I just read the comments about this at the Boston Herald.

There’s a lot of bad feeling toward all people from Quebec, and for that matter all of Canada. I think I can speak for the vast majority of Canadians that we are embarrassed by the actions of a few.

We’re learning to be more patriotic in Canada in general, but will probably never reach the level of patriotism you have in the U.S. Dare I say that the Quebekers booing the U.S. national anthem are plagued with ambiguous patriotism and don’t quite grasp how insulting it is to boo a national anthem.

I’m totally disgusted with it and hope it does not happen tonight again; but I’m not holding my breath.

Thank God! (Metaphorically)

Of course, it just occurred to me that they may have been booing Charles Prevost-Linton. I hate his voice.

I agree, though, that Québeckers, and maybe even Canadians in general, just don’t see it as that much of an insult. It’s just a cheap way to try and get into the opponent’s head, in their minds (and by they, it’s just those fans that got swept up into the pre-game ferver and went with the mob mentality to boo).

From what I understand (as I said, I’m very new to following this sport!) there Montreal has two big rivals: Toronto and Boston. They really don’t like each other out there.

That’s more fan rivalry than player rivalry though. I don’t think Ryder was too upset going to Boston, and really a job’s a job, right? Players don’t control the hype, the media and fans do.

Wow, what a save by Chara at the end of the 1st.

And kudos to Hab fans, while they hate to lose and believe me, I know how they feel, I’m glad we can leave the ‘hate’ on the ice where it belongs.

Afterall, Montreal does have the greatest gentlemens clubs I’ve ever been to.
