I mean, I know it’s the quality of the games that matter… but really, what in the world was going through the heads of the marketing department on this one? ---

So what was wrong with calling it the Revolution? As far as console names go, that one didn’t completely suck. ---

I don’t know about you, but I intend to keep calling it “Revolution” for as long as I can get away with it. This is one case where they’d have done better to keep the internal codename, at least for the predominantly English markets. I shudder to think about all the bad jokes this is going to inspire. Of course, as one slashdotter pointed out, Nintendo always does _something_ monumentally stupid with each console. We can hope that they used up the stupidity on the name this time. ---

It could just be that Wii is the japanese word for “revolution”, maybe? ---

I loved the reaction of the analyst who observed that: 1. Yes, the name is dumb. 2. Dumb names seem to do pretty well, and cool names often fail. ---

Fuck Nintendo. It used to be cool as hell, but lately it’s a joke, pandering to the most childish gamers. I remember when Nintendo was debating whether or not to release Resident Evil ports to the N64 because they were too “mature.” Pussy-asses. ---

Yeah but the sad thing is that while most of the games kiddie in nature the game play is actually very deep and involved. I find myself playing my Gamecube more than I do my Xbox. ---
