Oh, good grief. I should have known I wouldn’t get a succinct answer on this board! Ha Ha
I think the elimination of the word "Which’ in my OP is typical of other examples of the dumbing down of our language that has been going on for years. This bugs me.
NOW it is ok to end a sentence with a preposition (We will answer in the order it was received in)
It is NOW ok to begin a sentence with “and” or “but”. This has always seemed very awkward to me. (And, I noticed, he was wearing a gun) THAT is a complete sentence?

roger thornhill, I was referring to the publishers of said book. Have you not had a positive experience publishing books this way? Do tell.
nicolangerek, I am publishing a book of song parodies. Nothing serious.

It was a very satisfying experience the first time round, much less so the second - and final - time.
Marketing is the key. If you can identify a niche, that’s key. Direct marketing (via email, for example) is incredibly effective, though very time-consuming. Other forms of advertising are a waste of money, in my experience. Of course, PR stuff, such as reviews and interviews, are helpful, and very pleasing vanity-wise.
Thank you for your info. I am publishing my book without much intention of making dough on it. I am just doing it for the fun of it and to see what it’s like ot have an actual book in my hands. I was never very good at marketing, and I have no clue how I would go about it, anyway, so…
