NK Subs Vanish--<2X Artillery Units On Border.

That’s not true at all.
NK did not apologize, they say they regretted the incident where the SK troopers were injured in a land mine they (NK allegedly) planted in the DMZ. The loudspeakers were in response to the land mine. Regretting something isn’t an apology IMHO. But, no one wanted a war and the kids in NK uniforms feel like their supreme leader won another one.

I thought the mine maiming two South Korean soldiers cause the trouble in the first place. Or do I have the timeline of events wrong?

Depends on the nork warplan, for them if it was not a crash surge and fight what you got, then they would work their advantages, and pre position them along probable routes. Win the lottery and have a carrier cross your Tee, even if the sub is sunk, its mission accomplished.

Then we have mine laying, no direct combat.

Lastly, we have Nork commandos being slipped into the south and other areas of interest, to cause havok, again, no direct combat.

Just doing nothing, and known to be in the area, could cause an area denial situation, if insurance underwriters decide that they are not going to cover any merchant in the area.

Not worth it, before the first shot is fired.

Declan

Mahan’s “fleet in being”.

You can’t refuel, rearm, provision or land men and equipment without knowing that the son of a bitch is just over the horizon.

I wonder if all those decrepit NK subs will make i
t home, or sink from bad repair?

It’s possible the whole NK sub effort was simply another elaborate bluff.

Perhaps the whole lot just sortied away from the pier then settled onto the bottom of their home harbor and merely sat there in hiding as long as their air and batteries held out.

They’d be close to impossible for anyone (who’s talking) to find. Fleet in being indeed.

The entire seabed in the region has to be covered with hydrophones, and there are certainly other ways of tracking those noisy old rustbuckets. I do not doubt that anyone who might need to know where they are *does *know where they are. </Tom Clancy mode>

Tensions permeated through a membrane? What a weird image.

I would prefer if they were defused, like disabling a ticking bomb, but that’s just me.

Although defusing is pretty binary, whereas tensions more typically change concentrations slowly between low and high and all states in between.

The headline writer may be an illiterate twit ignorant of basic English, but he/she found (a bit of) an acorn this time.
