For real. The idea that anti-discrimination laws are there to be circumvented is pretty gross.
Yes, that is exactly why what I think of as the fair rules here are tilted pretty far towards tenants. That’s the way it needs to be in order to be fair. The primary balance to that is eviction for cause can be pretty quick if necessary. I think I calculated it as something like 3 months from when the tenant stops paying rent until they can be forced out (assuming timely court dates).

My condo does need some serious interior updating. I could easily spend $20-30,000 redoing a bunch of stuff. It would be much nicer, and then I could get the same rent I get now…
