I fucking hated it. I did like the performance of the FBI G-Man guy though he got killed off pretty quick. Then there was the lounge singer, she started singing and I thought it was really fantastic, great set of pipes, then she sang again ok cool, then she sang again and I got sick of it that time and every time she sang after, we get it she’s a singer.
I thought Hemsworth’s performance as a Charlie Mansonesque cult leader was completely unbelievable he was basically there to show off his abs which got old after 2 seconds though I did like when he got burned. The one cool scene I thought was when the meek little bellboy turned out to be a stoned cold killer but then he died in a stupid way.
This movie was torture to watch, I wanted to walk out but my date wouldn’t go for it. Best scene was watching Jeff Bridges blow away the stupid ass sister, such an annoying character!
I loved it - really nice surprises but with some serious foreshadowing. I honestly was expecting the owners of the Hotel to Show up after Billy Lee and Gang were there to up the ante once more . But the film was long as is, so I understand them not going there. Also interesting that Rose did NOT turn on Billy Lee after he killed Emily - her death Scene seemed like the perfect setup for it
Beautiful Location, and I’m a sucker for multiple point of view filming, where they reiterate a scence from the angle of another actor. I do admit Darlene clocking Flynn was a bit out of the blue. But I guess this is not the first time someone tried to spike her drinks, so she came over, realized what he was doing, and let him have it.
Chris was glorious as Manson Expy - I like when actors take their Sex Symbol Status and turn it on the head. That was also the best part of the new Ghostbusters.
My only disappointment is that they did not do anything with the Dual State Nature of the El Royale beyond some throwaway gags. I was looking forward for some creative law twisting stuff, but it never went there.
Finally got around to seeing this at home. Loved the first part, but thought the last part became too predictable and dragged it down a bit. Overall, a very fun film, though.
