No blue jeans allowed -- in 1972?

Excuse me, the expression is “has another think coming.”

You have another thing coming.

That makes the most sense, but it the Judas Priest song of the same name they start out saying “if you think,” and then the lyrics change to “you’ve got another THING coming”. Think fits but they can’t see it. Has bothered me for years, but that is what they are singing.

Printing something stupid in a dictionary doesn’t make it any less stupid. Judas Priest singing it wrong spread stupidity like a sneeze spreading viruses.

Some individuals’ brains cannot process the phonetic difference between thing and think, evidenced by all the typos you can see like “I don’t thing so.”

“Another thing coming” has been in use for more than 100 years, far before the song. And is the far more popular phrase, despite pendant lauguage proscriptivists.

“You’ve got another thing coming!” sounds like something a drunk would sloppily growl at you from the other end of the bar.

“You’ve got another think coming!” sounds like something Peter Sagal would smirky chirp before a NPR station break.

I’m going with the first one.

I like this . The urge to correct it is making my skin itch - mission accomplished!

Sorry, I meant “locket lauguage proscriptivists”.

Yeah, my college girlfriend, circa 1992, really rocked the overalls. I remember one evening of strip poker when all she had on at the end of the game were the overalls. Interesting gymnastics to achieve that. Should have married that girl.

I lived in overalls, long and short painting murals. I was up on scaffolding. I had them in school too.

There’s been many overalls hanging on my clothesline. (It’s pure torture to dry them in a dryer)

My biggest laugh was when my girls couldn’t wear leggings unless they had pockets like jeans. Enter the “jegging” into our conversations.

Seriously, super super tight stretchy fabric with 5 pockets like every cowboy needs.

I’m voting for everyone wearing togas, daily.

Have you tried wearing a toga?? Now a lungi, that is practical.

Well, that explains why my 4th grade class in 1992 got a stern lecture at the beginning of the school year about why overalls had to be worn with both straps up. I never understood that one. Most of the rest of the dress code stuff we were warned about had to do with wearing Raiders gear.

You look like a fine upstanding young man. I think you’ll do.

As a kid in the mid 70s our local roller rink had a sign prohibiting “hippy junk ornaments.” I don’t know if it was because of any anti-hippy (love that spelling) sentiment on the part of the management, or because they were tired of skaters getting tripped up by some flower child’s fallen love beads. This was way after “hippie” was any sort of a fashion trend, but they left the sign up anyway.

How did they handle the punks with their “junk ornaments”? Were they allowed to skate?

But the coke spoons of their Disco clientele probably passed muster.
