In which case the guy would likely have a heap of immigration and police trouble to deal with if he was an illegal immigrant and given that he had a gunshot wound.
Well sure, but if you had a choice between dying and going to jail for awhile, which would you choose?
Depends on how long.
Not to hijack too much, but in case you folks are interested in the next Coen brothers film:
No trailers yet, but I will be watching for them.
You miss my point. I agree with you. Which is why it doesn’t make sense (per control-z) for Moss to have gone back himself rather than calling in the law to avoid the shot guy from having immigration/police problems. He was going to have those problems or die.
Especially if you want to keep the millions you just took from another dead guy that someone will question you about should Agua guy live.
I had no problem with the stupidity of his action. We all make stupid choices from time to time based on hunches or feelings.
This guy simply could not live with the fact he walked away without giving water to the guy. (Moral code, remember he found them while tracking an animal he wounded and had to finish off)
I think he just thought clearer and was able to react better only when he was in survival mode which only kicked in, once he was shot at.
Look at his actions prior to this. He finds the cash, goes home and sticks it in the closet. He stuffs the bigger guns under his camper, out of reach mind you, and goes to bed. On top of this he neglects (If I recall correctly… I may be wrong on this) to arm himself properly when he returns to the shoot out scene.
If he were really concerned with his safety early on he would have packed up and booked a flight out of there right away.
I think the act of returning to the scene was purely symbolic. It was required to make the point of the story. It was not required to get Chigurh on Moss’ trail, that could have been accomplished in any number of ways. It was required to make the point that Moss’ humanity and sympathy was his undoing in the end. Moss, even though he is clearly resourceful and skilled, is too human to live in the world that he tries to inhabit by keeping the money. That’s the point.
