It’s 11:06 PM on a Monday, and Comedy Central is showing a South Park rerun instead of Jon Stewart. The Comcast TV guide shows that The Colbert Report isn’t going to be shown tonight either. Did I miss something? ---

Yeah, Stewart and Colbert go on vacation sometimes. But usually they show reruns in the time-slot. ---

I thought they said they were off for two weeks, meaning last week and this week. ---

That’s what I was thinking; that if they were on vacation it would be reruns. Happens all the time. But showing South Park in the time slot made me pause, and think, “wait, what?” ETA: But I guess if it’s a two week vacation, Comedy Central runs out of reruns for shows that deal with news comedy. Was there a reason the two to a two week sabbatical, or was it just a “hey, let’s all go to Tijuana!” type thing? ---

I’ve always thought that they should fill the time slot during vacations with “from the vaults” episodes. Obviously it would be odd to see non-topical episodes, but I’d love a chance to see an old episode of Colbert again; that first year was satirical genius. ---

I also have wondered about the timing of their various vacations. I would have thought, at the very least, they’d have waited one week longer and make it a Memorial Day thing. The only other connection I can make is that school is getting out now.
