I was sickened and horrified by this article I saw on the BBC today. Warning again: unpleasant. I recall that case. It’s unclear just how much help the Internet sleuths were, since they came to so many wrong conclusions and went down so many blind allies, unjustifiably smearing innocents in the process. ---

People like that are severely mentally ill by any normal standards. But we need to take them out of circulation for the general good. I suspect that people who do that sort of thing to animals are rather likely to graduate to doing them to humans. ---

We should probably consider it a medical problem which should be treated as such? It’s no comfort, but it’s important to remember that this sort of thing has always existed. It wasn’t invented recently for Internet clicks. Still, I hope these bastards get cat scratches that become infected with stubborn cases of necrotizing fasciitis.
