Who, me? :: innocent look :: I’m fine with it. We have ads on the buses that explicitly promote Christian thought (“Bus Stop Sermons” or something like that); why not have ads that promote atheist thought? :: starts planning neo-pagan advertising campaign :: Remind me to send them a note of encouragement. The best part of the ads? More cash for the TTC…that Downtown Relief Line isn’t going to build itself (I am stupidly excited that City Hall actually did something that was common sense.) ---

Maybe they can replace one or two of the FIFTY MILLION _Being Erica_ ads in Bloor. I was wondering how the CBC had managed to buy out the entire station. That would at least make my wait there more interesting. ---

In the linked article, there’s a rabbi quoted as saying he’s not happy with an ad campaign telling people there’s no god, so they can do whatever they want. um… That’s not what the ad says, sir. Stop worrying. Enjoy your life. That’s it. ---

Besides London, they’ve recently done the same thing (atheist ads on buses) in Barcelona. ---

I have to admit, I got a little outraged at one of those posters that was mostly all about how great the bible was. Right at the end, was this sentiment, roughly: “And how do we know that everything in the bible is true? Well, I’m so glad you asked. It says so in the Bible!” And it quotes a verse about how the scriptures are the word of God, or some such. I was going :smack::smack: ---

They ran a similar ad in Washington, DC around Christmastime, with ads on busses saying, “Why believe in a god? Be good for goodness’ sake.” ---

Back when I rode the bus, I seem to recall most ads being for psychic hotlines, penis enlargement pills, get-rich-quick schemes and the like. These should fit right in. ---
