"No God" ads to appear on Toronto Public Transport

We don’t have many atheist rights groups around here, probably because religion is largely a non-issue anyway. Though with all these mayors insisting on holding a prayer before meetings of the city council even though they’ve been told not to, we may start seeing it.

Charleston, SC

We are nicknamed “the Holy City” because we have so many churches.

We also have a new billboard as of last week.

“Don’t believe in God?
You are not alone.”

I thought that was unoffensive and I actually have been feeling rather alone in that belief, given the pervasive Southern Baptist vibe.

Generally they aren’t terribly passionate in their lack of faith, but who knows? Feeling like they are being left out might be a powerful motivator.

And to resurrect this thread, I’ve just seen a report on Radio-Canada about these same messages (but in French) now appearing on Montreal transit buses. I guess it was only a matter of time. Here’s a link; I haven’t been able to find it in English.

Ironically, I haven’t actually seen one of these ads in Toronto.

Funny, and should lead to a vigorous, meaningless public debate that accomplishes little. If we’re lucky it’ll get people to lighten up by a micron or two, which is a worthy goal on its own.

The only thing funnier than the ads are the responses bemoaning the lack of morality in today’s society.
