I would take it to mean the same as “not resting on your laurels” - i.e. - can’t get complacent. ---

I would take it to mean that sometimes you only have one opportunity. If you see something you like in the brunch buffet line, take it now; you can’t go back through the line a second time. Or metaphorically, vote this November because there won’t be an opportunity to change politicians afterwards. ---

Given her oeuvre to date, I suspect she means that liberals need to be seriously active at supporting their causes all the time, and not take time out for frivolities like brunch. Because see what happens when you relax even for a moment? Her message is directed at liberals, not progressives, who are already too enlightened to take brunch. p.s. there’s no reason one can’t take brunch in the age of Covid. What is really out the window is buffets. You just need to order from the menu. ---

“Brunch” and “Buffet” are inseparable in my mind. Might be a California thing. ---

I interpret it as urban liberals getting together and doing boozy brunch (which is definitely a thing) and talking about how great Elizabeth Warren is, but not really doing the grassroots stuff that the Bernie wing of the party pushes. ---

It’s probably related to an old Leo Durocher expression, “Nice guys finish lunch.”
