I’m from Ohio and I know I’ve heard my mom (also from Ohio) say “they didn’t say boo to me.” I’m in agreement with **raventhief**. ---

I always understood it to mean hearing nothing, getting no response. Similarly, “didn’t say boo hiss”, though that one makes less literal sense. ---

The closest expression I know, is (if no one spoke/to or recognized you), “With no, hi, bye, or kiss my ass!” ---
