May a leperous weasle rend your flesh with his rotting claws. ``` Now for the story of my day. ``` On Sunday I was working the morning shift at McDonalds. The day was going well, until it went straight into the maw of chaos. I was working on a piece of equiptment, when The trouble started. I heard one of the front counter people argueing with a customer. We try to avoid confrontations, or to end them as quickly and quietly as possible. Normally the restaurant is at fault, but not always. This was such a case. I walked to the front counter to find out what is wrong. The employee is argueing with the customer about their order. What I hear as I approach the counter is Counter person, " Ma’am we’re the only two up here. Well who took your order ? But, there is no one else who could have taken that order. We don’t even sell that yet. " I ask what the problem is. I am informed by the customer that she placed an order, which she paid for. Yet we won’t give her the food. I ask what her order was. She tells me she ordered a Fish Filet, and a Small Fry. Unfortuneately, it is 9:00 in the morning. We don’t start lunch until 11:00. I ask the customer, who took your order. She tells me, " Someone took my order, and I paid fot it. " I ask the two women at the counter if they took her order. Of course they look at me as if I just sprouted a second head, due to the stupidity of the question. I know they wouldn’t take such an order, but I had to ask to make the customer happy. After both crew people answer , “NO”. I turn to the customer and again ask her who took her order. She tells me, " somebody". By this time she is demanding her money back. Being the good manager, I check all the registers, even the drive-thru, I also ask the people in the grill about the order. Again, I get " The Look". The customer is now demanding her money back. My patience is at the breaking point. All I want to do is scream at her. " You crack addled moron. You are using up oxygen, which others will need later. You have the brains of a house plant. you are not worth the sweat your parents worked up making you. I hope you are dragged off to some dark alley and beaten with big sticks, so you piss blood for weeks." However, I calmly inform her she will not be getting Any money. Because, she did not pay for such an order, due to the fact she Never placed such an order. As she begins to rant , I inform her she has two options. She can leave, or she can be removed by the police. Wisely she chooses to leave. The topper comes after she leaves, I escort her to the door. She immedeately heads for the Crack/ Prostitution house on the corner. To her chagrin it has been closed for a few days now. The city got the tenants to move out. So, now she has no breakfast, and has to look elsewhere for her drugs. Sometimes the story ends well. ---

What did she do that was so terrible that you have to spew such venom? Are you leaving something out? So she was mistaken. Big deal. Don’t think I’d be quite as vituperative as you seem to be, but maybe that’s just me. Also don’t know what the “crack house” really has to do with anything. ---

I agree with blowero. Had many customers like that while working in retail during my college years. It’s actually quite scary. ---

Mentally ill people can be scary because of their unpredictability, but I’m just not seeing any huge danger - unless, of course, she was armed. Was she armed? ---

I don’t know–how exactly is making up a total bullshit story about placing an order and handing over money being “mistaken”? I’ve known my fair share of crackheads and this is exactly the kind of bullshit some of them will pull just to get a few more dollars to hand over for a rock. And I don’t know where this “mental illness” assumption is coming from either. Sure, it’s possible that she was a bit off, but just because someone behaves inappropriately it doesn’t automatically mean they’re mentally ill and therefore blameless. It’s not like she was talking to the magical green pixie on her shoulder–she was trying to scam for a free meal or a monetary handout. Sounds pretty coherent, IMO. Some people _are_ just assholes. bella ---

She wasn’t mistaken. She was running a scam to get free food, or more likely, free money from the place. She terrorized the place’s employees in the process and probably annoyed the hell out of any customers that were in the place at the time. She was trying to steal one way or the other by making a scene and lying (poorly). What is so innocent about that? The crack house has to do with everything because it explains a probable motive for why someone would act that way. If it were a little old lady then we might conclude it was alzheimer’s or it were a well dressed businessman, we might just be confused. I too have seen crack whores do crazy things like this when I worked in retail and there is nothing innocent about it and it is disruptive to business. ---

I agree with bella. Dantheman is certainly cutting this woman a TON OF SLACK. Sounds to me like it’s a standard practice she has to get food and or money. I know we’ve all seen a lot of movies here, but not every crackhead hooker has a heart of gold. ---

During which the customer got more beligerant, and louder. Also,her body language suggested someone who was ready for a confrontation. If you were a customer in that restaurant would you feel safe, would you want to return to that restaurant ? As far as the crack house is concerned it just confirmed my suspicions about this person. ---

Again, if she actually was mentally ill - and I’m not saying she was, I’m saying she might have been - then isn’t it possible that she might indeed have gotten more and more belligerant? One common thing about the mentally ill; they don’t always have the sense of decorum that you or I might have. ---

She knew she didn’t place that order, and had probably gotten away with it in the past.
