**tomndebb** , glad to see that I’m not the only parent to have seen _Shrek_ 800 times…today. That was my first thought too.

**FairyChatMom** , when we say we like long hair, it is because we think most women look better with long hair. While you may not think that, trust us. We look at you even more than you look at you.

Why is it that nearly everyone with curly hair wants straight hair and nearly everyone with straight hair want curly hair. I can’t recall the number of comments I’ve gotten on my natural wavy hair. I just say “Thank you”. I think “You wouldn’t say that when you realize you have no control over the waves and sometimes they simple wish to stick perpendicular to your head.” Still, I’m happy at this stage of my life that I still have 100% of my hair 🙂

ha ha…that one made me laugh!

because we often pull many different drawings from the same base drawing.

It makes it easy to turn off just the floor tile hatch in the bathroom if its on its own layer.

Oh, **Babs** , you’re one of _them_, eh?

Heh heh. Sorry. Yeah, actually I realize that—it’s just kind of a pet bitch of mine. I do mechanical drafting—laying refrigeration equipment and piping over an architect’s plans. The first thing I do when I get a drawing from an architect is make one layer called “building” and put everything I need on it (walls, doors, columns and such) and delete everything else. Cuts _way_ down on the drawing size.

You know, architects and engineers…it’s like cats and dogs.😉

Ugh, I’m growing my hair out now for the same reason. Uh, except we’re not married. Anyway, I hate it. Half of me says, “Fuck him! I _hate_ long hair!” and the other half of me says, “But he really does like it…” Of course, the other half of me says, “He wants me to grow mine out, I want him to cut his. Where’s the reciprocation?”

:sigh:

P.S. I knew it was about hair.

What’s funny is I think every woman who has had this problem knew immediately waht this thread was about.

Amen Sista’ Woman!

Fine, thin hair–“but layers will make it look more full”

Just Say No!

**Ferrous**

you mean, all this time, I have been conversing with …
with…

_your type_ ?!!

(scurries off to bleach typing hands)
😉
but back to the topic.
its not layers that are the evil.

its _bangs_

oh yes, I thought. how fun! how cute!

(several months later)
(for bangs take 1 nanosecond to grow out long enough to be _too_ long but take months to fully grow out)

How HORRID! I want my length back!!!

I’m glad to know the same thing has happened to others. I thought maybe it was just me being spacey that day or something.

And I particularly enjoy the architect/engineer conversation going on in the middle of the thread. 😉
Seriously, I’m thinking about going to my friend’s stylist this weekend - I’m not stepping foot back in that other place - and getting it _really_ chopped, then letting it grow back out even. But I don’t know about the really short & curly look.

**FairyChatMom** , my mother used to cut mine and my brothers’ hair when we were young. Her basic plan was to cut it as short as possible for them, and try to get mine somewhere around my ears. She cut it wet, therefore, somewhere around my ears meant somewhere above my ears when it was dry. There are some adorable pictures from that time.

**D\_Odds** , I really have learned to love my curls - it took a long time. It just seems like stylists these days don’t know how to handle the curls, or they think we all want the straight hair. I admit, the novelty dazzled me, but I really wouldn’t trade my curls in. They’re part of who I am. 🙂

Okay, I’ll come clean - I have the only hair type that belongs in layers. Not quite straight, and not quite curly, and way too thick - anything but layers looks stupid. And the title of this thread is making me hungry for cake. So, there ya go.

(And I sympathize with the hairdresser not listening - I asked a hairdresser to cut my hair in long layers once, and she chopped off about 4 inches to make it all even with the shortest length on my head. I have absolutely no idea what she was thinking.)

You can blow it straight in only 45 minutes &/or pull it back in a barette _sigh_…
where do I sign up?

Does someone wanna explain to a guy what layers and bangs are? I’m serious, I have no idea what you’re talking about apart from that it appears to be a girl-thing and maybe I shouldn’t be in here.

She listens to me and never does anything I don’t want. I live in constant fear that she will retire - like all good stylists seem to. Keep looking - the right one is out there! \*\*

This sentiment is so familiar! There was a stylist I went to in my hometown for 6 years, but one day I went back and he had up and left town. I’ve been looking for another good stylist for the past 4 years now.

And **Lsura** , I hope you can get your hair redone in a style that you love!

Layers are when they cut your hair in, well, layers. Instead of all one length, you know? I suppose the Rachel cut from early Friends would be a good example of layers. And bangs are the shorter hair on a woman’s (or man’s, I guess) forehead - Chryssie Hynde was famous for her bangs coming right down to her eyes. This would be so much easier to explain in person. 😃
