Squeeze-a-Snack used to come in a really fat hot-dog shaped tube that had a little cut out that you would squeeze the cheeze like product out of. You would up with a nice acordian type shaped cheeze snake - it was the best.

Dude, this took me ages to learn. It was totally worth it.
In addition to “maybe”, the word “no” apparently means “I’d say yes but I don’t want to trouble you”. At least, that’s what my retired next door neighbour perceives the word to mean when I repeatedly turn down his offers to mow the lawn in my backyard. (I use a push mower and remove weeds with hand tools, instead of having a life.) The second time I came home from work to discover my lawn electrically mowed (too short) and doused with foul-smelling weed killer, I put a lock on my back gate.
That weekend, my neighbour’s son-in-law came over to chide me for depriving a lonely old man the opportunity to do a good deed. I tried to explain that _offer_ to mow my lawn was a good deed, but continually mowing it against my wishes was rude. Even after pointing out that his dad scalped my lawn almost down to the topsoil, made it unhabitable for my cat with his wretched chemicals **and** mowed the daffodils that border my yard, I’m still the bad guy. :rolleyes:
I just hope the old man doesn’t get bored enough to break in and do my laundry – I don’t like fabric softener. 😃

Maybe the person who’s offering you nibblies has been trained differently than you have with regard to making offers of hospitality or generosity. In Bengali culture, a guest is supposed to refuse an offer of nibblies twice before finally “reluctantly” accepting. That means the host is expected to make the offer at least three times.

I understand what you’re saying, and agree that cultural differences can sometimes play a part. Not in this case, however.
The person in question is my MIL. She can trace back to the First Fleet, on both parent’s side, so I am 100% sure it’s not a ‘different’ culture thing.
She just won’t take “No” for an answer and it bugs the hell outa me sometimes.
