But which part is the lifter? 😉

Almost as bad as the Manitoba government declaring that 2 Ritz Crackers counts as a serving of “grain”:

Still nice that they can tell you the name of the boat that landed your fish. We always threaten to go to the Bervie chipper, but haven’t as of yet. Less likely now that we have even fewer ties with Aberdeen now.

I had an awesome lunch.

Tuna melt sandwich on pumpernickel with old cheese and a tomato soup.

Except, wait… My tomato soup fucking EXPLODED in the work microwave after 30 seconds. It was one of those soup to go/at hand things from Campbell’s which are awesome when I have no real leftovers from the night before. I put it in, walked to my desk for something (10 ft away max) and walked back to hear it going bloop bloop and over it goes on its side, spilling all over the microwave which I then had to clean with brown hand towels because though we have a kitchenette there is nothing to properly clean anything with. All the while, holding up the others from heating their lunch. I’m not sure if it was the soup itself or I missed that the turntable was off the track again and made it tumble over.

I want my proper lunch. ☹

> We visited a cottage this year with the dogs that had uncarpeted steps set up the same way. The dogs were hilarious the first day, paws sliding through, panic, Mojo tiptoeing up and down the stairs with wild eyes. Less than 24 hrs later you’d never know they hadn’t grown up there. Chasing each other around without a blink. Gave me high hopes for the terrible horrible thing we’ve planned for them in May (moving)

I see people giving their very young children big bottles of soda to drink all the time - I can’t imagine that a half liter of sugar and caffeine is something a two year old needs in their diet.

In Lucky’s defense, he’s a very good kitty. He just hangs out with bad influence kitties.

Seriously, I know that now that they have started climbing up the back of the stairs, they will continue to do it, even if its just when the people aren’t around. Lucky will probably figure it out without breaking bones. He gets about 5 feet up before he runs out of mementum. That’s plenty of room for him to twist and land on his feet if there isn’t a dog under him.

I once saw a cat do that irl. I still chuckle at the memory. Kittens fall off things all the time, but full grown cats…only on utube.

Day Two of Gastroenteritis - oy vey. I was supposed to go for my birthday dinner today - I’m going to be having mashed potatoes and vanilla pudding instead, and I’m lucky that my gastroenteritis is mostly at the output end, rather than the intake end, so I can still eat bland foods. ☹

If you google lifter and stair, you get lots of those elevator chairs that run up along one railing. There are lifters in car engines, though. They open valves.

As some of you know I run a program for pit bulls at the city shelter. Some of you may remember my distress the other month when I was going to lose one of my program dogs, Charlie, to kennel stress. Thanks to two very dedicated volunteers, he was adopted in time. He was lucky. He now has a great family. I heard from them the other day. He’s doing great. They are all so happy together.

My counter part at the county shelter is fairly new to being in charge of the program. She lost one of her dogs on Monday for the same reason. She is so broken up over it. I can feel her pain in her update. It is the first dog she has lost. I know how she feels. There is nothing wrong with these dogs that a home of their own won’t cure.

Silly and very minor rant.

Why do people who are dropping in for a few minutes insist on parking across the entrance of our driveway? We live on a huge street with big wide shoulders with nobody parked in front of my house, but for some reason they don’t even try parking _in_ the driveway, they simply park in the street with the side of their car blocking our one-car driveway.

This isn’t a simple matter of explaining to one bozo their transgression; everyone does it. My wife teaches piano, so we often have many students coming and going, and we often have folks from the kids’ school and other people dropping in. Two out of three insist in parking athwartships at the entrance, making it impossible for me to leave.

Today I was coming home in the dark and was already fully committed in the left turn from the main street into my drive when I noticed that today’s offender had parked on the shoulder with about one foot of their car overlapping the entrance. I had to stop very quickly in order to avoid taking his bumper off.

So the problem here is twofold: These aren’t random people, they are nice people who I know such as friends and children’s parents—I can’t be mean to them. Secondly, there are just too many of them.

Ugh.

Is there ground on either side of the driveway entrance? Enough to pound in some tall reflector sticks on either side and “no parking” signs? Probably the only way to go without speaking to each offender individually. Maybe an email?

Probably still won’t help!

Hey, dude ahead of me in the Pizza Hut drive through–if your pizza isn’t ready yet, don’t sit there by the window for 10 minutes while fifteen people wait behind you! Pull around and let us get _our_ food! You can drive back around, you know, it’s not a one-shot deal. But while you sit there waiting for a pizza they just put in the oven, MINE is getting cold! So MOVE!!!

( I miss the board in front of the restaurant that let you know when your food was ready. You just waited for your number to light up and then you went to the window to pick it up. I don’t know WHY they got rid of that. I don’t remember it being a problem when I worked there!)
