Sounds like some people may benefit from reading [Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, and Rastus: Blacks in Advertising, Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow](https://www.amazon.com/Aunt-Jemima-Uncle-Rastus-Contributions/dp/0275951847/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=aunt+jemima&qid=1592408862&s=books&sr=1-5) by Marilyn Kern-Foxworthy (the one I have) or similar books that come up when you search “Aunt Jemima” on Amazon. That history is long and disgraceful. ---

Ok, stupid but sincere question: Is the offensive part of Uncle Ben’s because of the “uncle” part? I’m not defending it; if people say they’re offended, then I believe them. I just never thought about that aspect until now. It was always \*perverted \*rice, though:o Aunt Jemima should have been dealt with decades ago. Also, would Land O’ Lakes be less problematic if the depiction of the Native woman wasn’t so cartoonish and lame? ---
