I have officially changed my name on the SDMB. I have forfeited the whopping 60 or so post count I had accumulated since registering on Hallowe’en, under the username smeggy. As I said in my thread in ATMB, can you **believe** I went through my entire life (until I found this MB) without learning the term smegma? What a sheltered life I had led!! A million thanks to those of you who felt compelled to e-mail me over the past few months (with your sometimes “colorful” messages)in an effort to educate and enlighten me. Welcome, **Anne**! Nice user name, BTW. Clever. (Did Wally think of that?) Aren’t you one of our local Puget Sound Dopers? Not that it matters since we seem to be an anti-social crowd. But I keep hoping that one day my little children will be judged by the content of their character and not…wait, wrong speech! That one day we truly will have a Puget Sound get-together attended by more than two people. (The content of whose character left something to be desired!) I think you should have thumbed your nose at the ill-mannered, and changed your name to smegma, phlegm, earwax, or any body secretion that resonates most strongly with you. Miss Anne Thrope? Oh, I get it. hahaha! ---

Hey, thanks, Pluto. Yes, I am a Puget Sound Doper, in fact, we could practically be neighbors, since I am closer to Kent than I am to Auburn. (?) No, I don’t **think** Wally thought up the name. Well, he could have, for all I know, but I think I came up with it on my own.) Arnold, thanks for the rebellious words of encouragement, but the icky connotation my name brought up just gave me an self-image problem. I feel better now. ---

I was just teasing about Wally. Everyone thinks he’s sooo clever! Well _anybody_ can be clever when they’re just sitting around all day recovering from surgery. Some of us have to come to work and pretend to be busy while we’re posting. The pressure is incredible! I just discovered **Chrome Toaster** is also in the Puget Sound area. We may reach critical mass yet. ---

Great name! _Much_ better that smeggy! I have a friend who always called her sister Smegma, affectionately of course! 😉 I was in high school at the time and never knew what it was either. That is, until I casually called her it to her face, in front of her boyfriend. I think that was the worst beating of my life. * * * My kids brighten up our home. Anne, I must admit that the first time I saw a post under “Smeggy” I thought, “Hmm. Now THERE’s a name that’s considerably more extreme than ‘Satan’.” I assumed you were being sort of “defiant” in some odd way, like punk rockers who make bizzare mutilations to their faces and call themselves something like “Johnny Vomit”. We planned one, had about a dozen possible attendees, kept changing the date and place, got six or so who thought they’d be there and two (myself and **BurnMeUp** ) who actually showed up. As we have both stated before, it was an enjoyable evening but it hardly met the criteria for a “gathering”. ## I’m willing to try again if there’s sufficient interest and if **Anne** and **Chrome** can figure out who is who. Let me know, or start a new thread if you like. We can at least run it up the flagpole and see if it waves. “I’ll tell him but I don’t think he’ll be very keen. He’s already got one, you see!”
