He certainly did that, and did it well.
Tambu, as well.
He’ll be missed.
I’d started re-reading the Myth series just last week. Every one of them is in a pile on my kitchen table. Along with Phule’s Series.
This sucks! sob
Yet another of the people who made me the geek I am today has passed.

Farewell Yang.
Bob was well known to avoid doctors at any cost, so no sight that anything was coming. The 2pm call for the ride to the airport is correct, followed by 5pm not being able to get in. He was found looking like he was taking a nap, glasses to one side, reading a Terry Pratchett book. Cite to the person who did the finding.
I’m a little more in to loop on this one, because he and I share membership in a science fiction organization/family, and the lines, telephonic and virtual have been buzzing! Further info has suggested cardiac malfunction, but that’s not yet final.
For those who want more personal involvement:
In New Orleans, on Monday May 26th (yeah, that’s TOMORROW) there will be a gathering from 9-11pm at Fahy’s Pub on Dauphine in the Quarter, which fits Bob’s often-expressed desire that he be remembered by a series of great pub crawls.
Bob also stated that should he die, any donations (should go) to the New Orleans Library for the purchase of science fiction books.
Alternately Bob was a great cat lover concerned about the animals of New Orleans and donations to no kill animal shelters would also be a fitting memorial.
However, last on the list but perhaps first in priority, there may be need for a little hard cash to actually see the process of burial through. Anyone who would like to discreetly help the family itself can let me know, and we can go from there.
Bob changed a lot of lives. In person, in the time he would take personally with unhappy nerdy kids to help them grow in to happy nerdy adults, through his writing, and occasionally as a bad example!
If you can’t make it to NoLa on Monday, raise a glass of glass of the best single malt scotch whiskey you have available at 9, to a lost friend.
(If your best single malt is martinelli’s apple juice, that counts, too!)
There may be another memorial in Ann Arbor, it may or may not be open to folks outside of the family.
Blast.
I’m sorry to hear this. Like many others I’ve really enjoyed many of his works. Godspeed.
For those who don’t know Robert Asprin was also the founder of the Dorsai Irregulars a group that should be familiar to anyone who has gone to major science fiction conventions.
