I feel bad. I reported **Lizard** ’s post. I did it before the new pit rules. I reported it erroneously because I forgot we were in the Pit; I had thought we were in GD or MPSIMS. The discussion was going so politely, **Lizard** ’s insult stood out to me. I think it was inappropriate, but I don’t like the new rules, and I’m glad **Lizard** wasn’t actually warned. Maybe a rule could be crafted that would exclude only insults I find inappropriate–insults that seem to exist only _because_ a discussion happens to be in the Pit, and are just sort of tacked on without adding to the discussion or even responding to an apparent slight. I used to avoid the Pit precisely because of such posts, which were so frequent they made any actual discussion almost impossible. But it hasn’t been that way in a very long time, and I don’t think **Ed** ’s rules serve any purpose at this point. The excellent and reasonable modding by **Giraffe** and **fluiddruid** did more to elevate the tone of the Pit than any rule possibly could. ---
