Glued on those fluttery eyelashes for the first time since … dang, since back at the BBQ joint. Didn’t pick the best night for it … we were _dead_ I think that was the slowest we’ve been since we started. On a positive note, there was a new kid being trained tonight, first day. Seems capable: learned quickly, worked quickly. Hooray! ---

OK, now I’m up for reals. caffeinated and everything. But I’m glad I had the phone in the bedroom - usually I leave it in the living room, but I set the alarm so I’d get up in time. Obviously that didn’t matter today - I won’t be wrangling the kids. I need to see how the inlaws are feeling after they’re up. I also need to talk to **FCD** about the dog - we were going to leave her with our daughter, but I don’t know if that’s nice, since she has 2 sick kids. I might also suggest we leave today, stop along the way, and have 2 shorter days of driving than one long one. We’ll see how that’s received. My throat feels a bit odd - dunno if it’s symptoms or just my brain messing with me. I don’t have time to get sick - we gotta get these people back to Florida! Always something… ---

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 15c/60f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “If you’re hanging out at your fucking house and bored, you could always try to find the end of PornHub”…I’ve never found the beginning of it so I think I’ll skip that. I have read but retained little, haven’t been here all week as I’ve been ill with a cold. Definitely not covid as all my tests have been negative but I’ve spent close to two full days in bed just unable to stay awake for more than half an hour at a time, and the rest of the time on the sofa. I’ve got a stuffy nose, stuffy head, sore throat and now today I have a cough as well. Typical cold, but I have just been feeling really miserable. We were supposed to be going away for a long weekend with friends who are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary but since a couple of people in the group have recently have chemo/radiotherapy and surgery for various cancer and cancer-related things, the organisers asked everyone to test for covid before arriving, and also to stay away if anyone was potentially infectious. As I’m still unwell and off work, I have cancelled my plans. The cats will be pleased as it means no cattery for them, and 'im indoors is still working out if he can go (he doesn’t drive) provided someone can get him there and back (or work something out with trains). On the plus side, I got a text telling me I’m eligible for the covid booster and flu shot so I am booked in for 8th October for those. ---

Good morning everyone. It’s currently 58 degrees and cloudy with an expected high of 66 degrees and partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies. I think we might see rain tomorrow. I got my application packet submitted yesterday. After having had to answer some of the questions on the supplemental questionnaire, I’m doubtful I’ll be called for an interview as it’s apparent it’s been set up for certain types of people. Still, we’ll see how it plays out. I’ve got Friday off since it’s the husband’s birthday and I have a stupid amount of leave, comp time, and credit hours to burn. I already gave him his birthday present because it arrived yesterday. I got him a Garmin vivosmart 5. I have an older vivosmart 4 and he likes the fact that it’s easy to use and read. I got it all set up for him last night. I’m sorry about the continuing lens issue, **nellie**. I can really empathize with you and hope that a solution is found. I’m sorry to hear that Roxy has caught the nasty bug, **FCM.** I hope you and FCD don’t catch it. I’m sorry you don’t get to celebrate with your friends, **boofae** , and hope you start feeling better soonest. On the other hand, if im’ indoors gets to go, you get the place to yourself! I can’t remember the last time I’ve been alone here for an extended amount of time. Sometimes, you just need the house to yourself, ya know? Well, it’s another three-cup day. My husband got me up way too early due to his tossing and turning and I came down to find that Polar had stomach issues sometime in the wee hours, so I had to clean up his frantic efforts to get out the back door this morning. Little piles of diarrhea from the den, down the hallway, in the great room, in front of the doggie door, and finally on the back porch. Fun times 🙄 His tummy seems better now, but he didn’t get his first thing in the morning treat because I want things to settle. I hope you all have a great day! ---

Morning all. The injections did hurt last night and I didn’t sleep well until early this morning, but I guess I’ll live. There is much less ache now, guess my body is adjusting to the two shots…next time I’ll maybe do one a week… Another beautiful day, no chance of rain and temps in the mid-80’sF, so may do some shopping and go to the gym before coaching soccer. **FCM** , I’d support leaving early and stopping on the way, you’ve had a long tough visit and then the kids being ill and Toby’s seizure, none of you are likely in 100% condition for what amounts to an 800-mile trek. IMHO as always. And best wishes to the kids, my brother and I swapped illnesses all though our pre-school and school years. Polar is trained, it’s apparent he had some real distress, poor guy. He was hesitant to come back inside when he saw me through the slider. He doesn’t really have accidents, so when he has one, I know he’s feeling ill. Poor guy, it’s apparent that he really was trying to get outside. Besides, cats hork up hairballs. Not fun to step in either. ---

I told my siblings about my grim situation. One sister refused to believe there are no other companies anywhere who make the lens. The thing is, there’s not a huge demand. I’m one of a minuscule group. We could meet in a VW Beetle and still have room for a marimba band. I told her this and made a few phone calls but struck out. The manufacturer’s name is on the bottle for my last lens, but when I called them, they said a) You’re not a doctor, so we won’t talk to you. b) We’ve never heard of that lens. c) You’re still not a doctor. Go away. I’ve put in another call to M. to ensure I have the right mfr., even though it’s on the bottle, and they DO make contact lenses. By the way, the maker for the EU is on the bottle as “Hungry.” Maybe they’ve been _eating_ my contact. I’m going to take the babushka cart and head to the garden store to get more potting soil. I need to divide a snake plant and repot a spider plant. I really want to curl up in a corner and cry in frustration, but that’s no help. Keep busy, don’t dwell. **FCM** , hope you’re having a safe trip. Did you say you’re returning on Sunday? I think you said a realtor is coming on Saturday. Hopefully that’ll help convince the 'laws that a move is a good idea. Poor little Roxstar.
