I don’t even understand why people make an issue of this! I usually read through a thread with my joke in head hoping no else posted it, because if they didn’t post it then I can! Being the first person to post something means you’re **being original**. Once upon a time people tried to be original because it implied they were creative. When you get pissed off about being original you’re basically saying “I want to be tired, and repetitive”. ---

I thought this thread was going to be about the complaints by partisans about their opposition not starting a thread about that opposition’s outrageous behavior when once (in 1962) that opposition complained about something the partisans’ ilk did. ---

I don’t even understand why people make an issue of this! I usually read through a thread with my joke in head hoping no else posted it, because if they didn’t post it then I can! Being the first person to post something means you’re being original. Once upon a time people tried to be original because it implied they were creative. When you get pissed off about being original you’re basically saying “I want to be tired, and repetitive”. ---

I didn’t read the rest of the thread, but the weekly TV show threads seem to be the worst: “What, no 30 Rock thread this week”? “What, no Office thread this week?” “What, no South Park thread this week?” For God’s sake, maybe the person who normally starts 30 Rock threads is taking an extra-long dump. Start it yourself! ---

While I have never done this myself, I have thought it while posting, but not for any of the reasons mentioned above. It’s not happiness at being able to post something original, but rather thinking of something that’s so obvious that it would normally have been one of the first responses. And if my post is late in the game, perhaps it actually \*has \*been posted before. For example, suppose the original post were: What’s a simpler way to express “4+4+4+4”? People could post replies like “8 + 8” or “20 - 4” and so forth for lots of posts. Then finally somebody responds"I can’t believe nobody has said ‘16’ yet." Not because they’re so proud of their originality, but rather because they really are surprised that this obvious answer had not yet been mentioned. ---
