I don’t believe black-on-white racism has really been proven as a long and profoundly hurtful part of American history, and hence it is hard to buy the concern for “racism” as expressed in this thread. It’s whitey outrage, nothing more. The word “uppity” is lurking, just waiting to come out.

Interestingly enough, my husband and I have the perfect indicator for when it’s time to stop using a slang word/phrase. When mainstream America (read: middle age, suburban people) start using certain slang, it was time for us to stop using it, oh, a year ago.

Once again, an entertainer confuses being popular with being important.

Maybe they should start handing out diplomas at the Grammys, kind of like the one they gave to the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. And if you don’t get one, then you are not a Doctor of Thinkology and you should stick to your music and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

I wasn’t calling you a racist, I was saying you aren’t a _victim_ of racism. Some of the people in this thread sound like Oprah Winfrey wringing their hands about their “Crash moment.” Some rapper said that white people shouldn’t try to talk black. I am outraged. I haven’t done a study on this or anything, but I wager that the people who are the quickest to accuse black people of racism are also the first to shake their heads and dismiss any claims of white-on-black racism. Thousands of poor blacks left to die? That’s not racist! It’s not even poor management! Stop playing the blame game! But some black guy fees protective of black culture and issues a mild rant against latter day minstrel shows? That racist tool!

I want to see the black population start speaking like uptight whitey’s. Pardon me, do you have any Gray Poupon, lovey dear? Cause watching the honkies I know speak Street (or whatever) is just painful. I want to beat them senseless. It would be awesome to see the black community to dress in such an constricted fashion as well. ( And then white guys would wear colorful sweaters and those psuedo fez hat thingies and do complicated handshakes. and then the universe implodes because the Improbably Factor just fired up.  
Secretly, I think black people and gangsta’s all speak like Thurston Howell when they are in their houses, churchs and community centers. The stuff we see is all an act.

Yup, you caught me. I mean, how DARE they call me a “stupid, fucking, white-ass bitch.” I’m not even white! I’m TAN. Sheesh. I mean gosh, those damn darkies are are always bitching about their problems, but what about ME?!? :rolleyes:

I know there is racism against African-Americans today- I see it all the time when I am out with my friends. That fact does not mean that there isn’t racism against white folks (whoa, double negative. Go Diosa and my awesome, morning grammar!). As I said before: stupid can be wrapped in any color.

The minority will always be prejudiced against by the majority. Who is persecuted is dependant upon who is the minority. Most of the time, hispanic people or African American people are the minority. This was not the case at my high school. The school was 50% African American, 40% Hispanic, 8% “other” (Asian, usually), and 2% “White”.

Although most everyone got along, there were still idiots. I would like to say again: stupidity can be wrapped in any color. You can say I’m wrong and just being uppity, which is fine. I know that I experienced racism first hand. Racism against anyone is wrong, no matter what color they are.

I think it is silly to say that there is no such thing as racism against white people. The fact that you admit there is a double standard means you admit that there is racism against white people as well.

Did I mention Kanye West is a douche? 😃

If saying “yo, yo, yo, wassup, my homies” makes a white person sound stupid (a point I’d have a hard time disputing) why is it acceptable for a black person?

Besides, Kanye West grew up in a middle class suburb. When he acts like a gangsta he’s faking it as much as I would be.
