I walk in the house last night, and oldest KVSchild (11 yr. old daughter) grabs me and says, “Two elephants were sitting in a bathtub. The first one says, ‘Pass the soap.’ The other one says, ‘No soap, radio.’” I said the last line along with her, and of course she wanted to know how I already knew it. I explained that the joke was around when I was in school. I also told her that the version I knew had the 3 bears, not two elephants. So, my question to you is - how does your version go? And, do you know the joke in any languages other than English? To start things off, here is a version in Aramaic: _Trei pilei havu ba’ambatia. Chad amar l’chavrei, “Hav li sabon.” Hadar lei, "Ain sabon, radio_." ---

Three penguins were sitting on an iceberg. One dives in the water and as he is swimming back to the surface, the bigger of the two still on the iceberg points at him as yells “Radio!”. Cracks me up every time. It is weird because I have found that some people don’t get it. Most of the time, I have found that they aren’t very bright or don’t have a good sense of humor. ---

Omigod, it’s been so long . . . The version I heard had something to do with a gorilla in a bathtub, but after that I draw a blank . . . ---

Do I have to be the first to admit that, while I’m pretty darned intelligent and have a great sense of humor, I just don’t get it? Unless this is just one of those non-sequitur jokes, of course… ---

The joke is you set-up all your friends to laugh wildly when you tell the joke while the _jokee_ looks on stunned trying to act like he gets it. My version, "Two penguins are sitting in the bath. One turns to the other and says, “Pass the soap.” The other says, “What do you think I am? A typewriter?” Much hilarity ensues… ---

I first heard it as two giraffes and “no soap, telephone.” There there was the short-lived non-sequitor-filled sitcom “No Soap Radio” which I found hilarious as a kid ---

I first heard the elephant version about 1974, still funny, still don’t get it.
