This past week, two former co-workers contacted me to recruit me to their agencies. Nothing like peer recognition! An outside regulatory agency examined the charts of 3 of my patients with a fine tooth comb and complimented my documentation. ---

Damn, I was hoping for a threadful of jokes about stealth bragging. Ah well. This will probably not be very impressive without a lot of background info but sod it. I am in treatment for PTSD and getting steadily better without meds. I’ve managed to remain a functional adult despite everything and things keep looking up. Yay! ---

Even though things have been rough since the recent death of my husband… I found a full time job after being wrongfully terminated while on maternity leave. I love my new job, new coworkers, and my new boss. Above all, I LOVE the work I do. Community mental health while actually being out and about in the community. Healing, in so many ways. Just got temporary guardianship of my oldest daughter few days ago. The hearing for permanent guardianship is set for next month but I am not so scared about it anymore. My kids are healthy and so am I. My six month old is sprouting her first tooth. 🙂 I also managed to find low cost health insurance for both of them because it was going to cost me $1300 a month to insure them under my employer and there is no way I can afford that. So yeah…totally awesome! 🙂 I also am slowly realizing that we’ll be okay. No matter what, we’ll be ok. ---

I got straight As in six classes last semester, in addition to straight As the semester before that, and the semester before that one. And I recently got an e-mail from Columbia asking me if I would be interested in a new program they have for alternative students (old farts) who have high GPAs and are interested in early childhood education. There’s no way I can afford the tuition, or for that matter even afford to live in New York for two years, but it pumped my ego nonetheless. ---

What a good thread idea! Two things from today: 1)A former coworker is in town for a visit and she let me know she is ready to buy several artworks from me - she had looked over some of my prints a few years back and we started talking prices, but never really finalized anything and I figured she just decided not to buy for whatever reason. It happens and I never had any hard feelings about it at all. Today she let me know that she had run into some hard financial times and that’s why the deal never went through but now she’s all set. It’s super touching and flattering that this woman of great taste and wisdom is actually excited about owning my stuff and giving some to a loved one too! Plus the prospect of a bit of cash isn’t too shabby either. 1. My sister spontaneously told me that I am “a good sister.” Nuff said. ---

As for me…well, there is that Most Beautiful Mom thing. But also, I had hip surgery in December and was out of commission exercise-wise for a while. When I got the OK to start running again in March, it was 1 or 2 miles at a time. Now I’ve reached a point where I’m running anywhere from 4 to 8 miles when I go, and am between 20 and 25 miles per week and increasing. I feel fantastic. ---

After weathering several difficult years financially, my husband and I have finally gotten caught up, we’re back on our feet, and this week, we’re actually taking a vacation together. A vacation without the kids. Just the two of us. The first time we’ve been away together since the honeymoon. ---

SpouseO and I are closing on a refi tonight - going from a 30-year at 6.125 to a 15-year at 3.5, so that’s nice. I also pay an extra mortgage payment every year, and have been doing so for years, so with luck we’ll get out of this in even less time. I still can’t believe we’ve been in our house 10 years (in September!) already, though. We just moved in! Honest!
