I think there are degrees of tidiness here. But the chaos that accompanies parenthood is completely natural, and any priest who really cares for his flock would know that.
I agree. For the record my grandma lives in a pretty rural area and the priests that I’ve met there have been really cool guys. The drive to clean when he comes over is totally self-driven in this case.

Several Dopers (most of them non-Popes, FWIW) are less than fully enthusiastic about watching tampon commericals.
Non-popes you say? There is a remedy for that. From the Discordian literature [here](http://www.principiadiscordia.com/book/43.php) you can see that _anyone_ can be an honest-to-goshen Pope! I even located a card generator[here](http://jubal.westnet.com/hyperdiscordia/popecard.html) so you can print off your own.
Problem solved, my friend, and one can now be an officially licensed and outraged Pope. (By the way, **Thudlow** , I love your username.
Not to mention that beer was lost and then re-invented by monks looking to supplement their Lenten diet. There was debate over whether it was an acceptable food. The debat reached the Pope (I’d have to look up which one it was). This particular Holy Father loved fine wines. He tried the beer, said it was disgusting and that the monks could continue drinking it and were actually doing penance by consuming something so foul.
😃 So they were drinking an early version of mass-market American beer?

> BTW- This is not a pro beer bias. I think the stuff tastes like selzer with stale bran flakes in it. But to say that it is inappropriate for a German pope to see ads for it is ridiculous. Remember that it was a monk, Dom Perignon, who revolutionized wine and gave th world champagne.

[It’s gone beyond “no beer ads” to a ban on sale of beer, wine, and liquor in some parts of Poland.](http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2006/05/26/international/i102901D08.DTL) I thought that, whatever its other faults, Catholicism at least didn’t have the stupid prohibitionist attitude toward alcohol that too many Protestant denominations have. Guess it ain’t so

Trust me, Catholicism in general doesn’t. When I was a full-time volunteer with a Catholic org, we lived with brothers and every house had a well-stocked bar. And communion wine is “real”. It sounds from this and the other article that Poland tends to be conservative.

Maybe they took seriously Sister Taffy’s “Pulling Satan’s Cotton Plug” bit at the Landover Baptist site. [http://www.webspawner.com/users/sistertaffy/pullingtheplug.html](http://www.webspawner.com/users/sistertaffy/pullingtheplug.html)

I love that one of the testimonals had a blood pressure of 293/187 and didn’t die.

Also, I love:

I know that. That’s why this particular expression of idiocy shocks me.
